ABOARD THE now-jettisoned “Straight Talk Express,” Sen. John McCain loved to talk with reporters about go-to heroes in history, none more than Theodore Roosevelt and Winston Churchill.

The two were famous multitask guys, writing books while directing battles. Neither ever ducked a debate, let alone an appearance on “Late Night With David Letterman.”
