It’s a little late in the game, but President Bush is showing evidence that he’s concerned about his legacy as president.

White House press secretary Dana Perino, who told reporters that part of her job is to talk up Bush’s record, said “there is no doubt that it has been a consequential eight years, where huge things have happened, from the biggest terrorist attack, the biggest natural disaster (referring to Katrina), and the biggest financial crisis in a century.” Consequential, yes — but characterized by flawed administration responses to each of these debacles.
