I am profoundly sorry for any pain or misunderstanding I caused by not choosing my words more carefully about Michael Jackson and his victims, because the words as printed do not reflect my true feelings. I didn’t mean to dismiss the trauma these boys experienced in any way. Like all survivors of sexual assault, they will have to carry this for the rest of their lives. It’s always upsetting when my words are taken out of context.

Here is the truth. When I started working on my 1976 movie, A Star is Born, I tried to get my friend Sydney Pollack to direct it. I hired Frank Pierson to rewrite the screenplay, but then he told me he wouldn’t do a second draft unless he also directed the film. And since Sydney was unavailable and we had to start shooting, I had to agree to … Read more »

I cloned Sammie once when she died… yet I keep hearing I cloned her two times. You can get a litter of puppies from one cloning… and that’s what we got. I also read that I cloned her in Korea… also untrue. It was in the USA. The cost was half of what they say!

I explained my reasons in this article which I feel I must share again.

The Artist as Citizen

For those who are encouraged and inspired by my art, you make what I do worthwhile – – thank you, dearly. For those who tell me to “keep my mouth shut,” here is my response. It’s as true today as it was nearly 25 years ago when I spoke these words:

President Kennedy was the first to suggest the creation of the National Endowment for the Arts. Well aware that art can be controversial, he concluded, “[the artist] must often

Women are now proving they are powerful when they stick together and are unafraid to speak truth to power… unafraid to stand arm in arm with EVERY American and find a way forward together. Many of us were at the history-making march last year when Donald Trump was inaugurated, and we were hoping against hope that some good would come out of this Administration. Unfortunately, day-by-day, Trump has provided us – – both by his actions and … Read more »

Here’s a terrible fact—

There has not been a single woman who has won the Golden Globe for Best Director since I was fortunate enough to win it for Yentl in 1984…that’s 34 years ago!    Not right!

More women should be directing!

In my humble opinion, I was very disappointed that director Dee Rees and her powerful film Mudbound wasn’t even nominated.

I also would have liked to see director Patty Jenkins and her exciting film Wonder Woman be recognized

In view of press speculation that there was a political aspect to an incident at one of the recent Ft. The New York Post Page Six column, as usual, intentionally and maliciously lied by omission! Their story today (April 7) starts off: “Barbra Streisand has finally gotten around to reading” the latest unauthorized biography on her, when in fact, the columnists knew that she clearly established the opposite in a statement published on this website (April 6). The statement read:

“Who is this person described in this book?

TABLOID MISSTATEMENT: In the August 16 issue of the National Enquirer, the tabloid’s “gossip editor”
asserts that Barbra Streisand was not filming “Meet The Fockers” during the Democratic National Convention
and further asserts that, therefore, that was not the reason she was not in Boston. The Enquirer story, by the
paper’s gossipist-in-chief, fabricates a hallucinated list of other reasons, none related to reality.

FLAGRANT USE OF FABRICATED QUOTES AND DISTORTION OF STREISAND’S COMMENTS

A
conservative Republican candidate desperately tying to unseat
respected Democratic Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy made a last-ditch
effort to gain some name recognition by devising ads in which
she blatantly misquoted Barbra Streisand. The Advertisements fabricated
outrageous quotes and completely misrepresented Ms. Streisand’s
deep opposition to the Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein. An Associated
Press correspondent brought the ads to the attention of Ms. Streisand’s
representatives Tuesday, October 15, requesting comment.
