Okay, so working 17 hours a day has kept me a bit out of the loop, but I have to say that I feel that the current site is a bit misleading. Having just found out about the Vanguard performance (I know, like I said, working so many hours every day doesn't leave time for much), when I came to the site, none of these comments showed up, just the highlight at right which shows the hours and the promise AND YOU CAN BE THERE, so, I pre-ordered the CD, not that I wouldn't get it anyway, not the point. It appeared as if pre-ordering now would still make one eligible. So all I'm saying, is either to link to these blogs so others who don't keep up are not misled into thinking they still have a chance to get tickets.My not knowing is not because I'm not a real fan, it's because I have to pay the bills. Thank you

Alas, I didn't win tickets. I congratulate the lucky people that did win. Frankly, I'm a little shocked and disgusted by all this negativity posted here. You people need to just let it go. I'll be back here to view it online. I live in NYC, so I'll be excited to see and hear all the buzz surrounding this special event.

It's not about winning or losing, it's how you play the game.

It is not only right, it is our OBLIGATION, to speak out whenever there is unfairness and deceit.

What many of you who were not involved in the various contests don't understand is that we are NOT upset that we did not win, we are upset at being..."misled," to put it midly.

In the pet contest, Sony/Erlichman/BJS, in every communication, put a great deal of emphasis on the importance of accumulating votes. Indeed the "Official Votes" say that the Top 20 would advance to the "Grand Finals," thereby increasing an entrant's chance of winning from 1/1,200 to 1/20.

In the end, not only was a pet chosen from outside the Top 20, but the winner, Dina is:
- the same rare breed, Coton de Tulear, as BJS's dog, Sammie
- the photo of Dina was taken by a professional photographer
- the photo was taken when Dina was 16 weeks old...sometime in late 2008 (earliest)
- the breeder of Dina is quite possibly Sammie's breeder!!!!

For those of you not involved in the contest, it is easy for you to point a finger at us and say "sore loser" and move on. We are not sore losers; we are FAIR PLAYERS!

Do you know what it took to place 1 through 20 among 1,200 plus entries? A LOT OF HARD WORK AND DEDICATION -- only to learn that Dina, as described above, won. Did Dina even receive one vote? We will never know. All we DO know is Dina WAS NOT IN THE TOP 20!!!

Sony/Erlichman/Streisand APPOINTED a winner instead of letting the votes count.

These entities miscalculated our dedication to Barbra, but most importantly, to the TRUTH and to our pets. We were deceived and misled and none of the aforementioned are off the hook.

I apologize profusely for suggesting you are not an avid fan, as well as inferring that you do not support Barbra's work. You were used as the scapecoat in a long-line of improprieties on Sony's part, and I am also so very, very happy for you that you will have your dream realized. I am truly sorry for being so presumptuous about the oddness of someone winning fair and square without purchasing a CD, especially not knowing you. But, in all honesty, if you were to be truly objective regarding at least two aspects of the contests, i.e., the video and pet submissions, as a fellow Streisand admirer, I would find it hard-pressed to believe that, despite the fact that you are truly a "winner," you would not believe that the outcome, per Sony's own rules, was improper. That said, I wish you a wonderful time at the Vanguard, and in all your endeavors.

You have proven what we all suspect, but dared to give any true authority. What a fraud!

As more is revealed, these contests get worse and worse for misrepresentations and possible foul play.

First, this brooklynactress girl is the only one who has posted that she won tickets, WITHOUT EVEN BUYING THE CD. What are the odds…with all the CD buyers, and not ONE CD-buying winner posted, only someone who did NOT support Barbra in her endeavor to have another #1 album in her 5th decade? I smell a rat.

Next…this “Dina” dog winner, not only was NOT in the top 20, but she is not a puppy at all, comes from a breeder of…you’re not going to believe this….Coton de Tulears…the EXACT breed as Sammie. Of the 1200 + photos, doesn’t anybody think it’s a bit strange that the winner, when there are over 5,000 breeds of dogs worldwide, is the same breed of dog as Sammie? The Sony folks wouldn’t even think people would find out about this, because of Dina’s brown/black ears, and most Cotons (from the word “cotton”) are generally all white. There you'll see Dina, both as a pup, and as an adult dog. I bet you if there was a TMZ investigation, we might quite possibly find out that the breeder of Dina is the same breeder that Sammie came from, in the first place. At the very least, if the Sony judges were looking for a submission of the same kind of dog as Sammie, they could have spared 1,200 people all that time and effort getting people to vote for their dog, cat, bird, etc., by being upfront about it. Coincidence??

Well, here’s another tidbit…after further digging on the website, it has been discovered that Dina had her first litter of puppies on July 1, 2009. Anybody know that significant date? Jim & Barbra’s anniversary. What a sad day in Streisand-Land, that decision-makers get to do whatever they want, at the expense of all of Barbra’s die-hard fans. “Let’s just punish all those people who have been committed to Barbra’s body of work for years. Why should we care? The purpose of the contests was merely to sell records.” Then they can get off the hook, by having someone post that she won 2 tickets to the Vanguard, and didn’t even buy the CD???

Neither the pet contest nor the video contests were run fairly.

I would hope that Barbra would stand with us and work towards helping find a solution.

For a woman with a reputation for perfectionism, I would think Barbra would be horrified if she knew the truth.

Sony botched these contests up badly!!! Something needs to be done to fix this!

I just read marys mary post, and thank God she or Craig amended it, because it REALLY fueled my fire, with the poster originally saying that "no other video was creative or original," and that her "friends" were a shoo-in to win, and everyone else are "sore losers." Let's set the facts straight, once and for all. The winner of the video contest is obviously "sobelita," whose real name is Jocelyn Gombac, and she and her partner, Zoltan Deak, are short filmmakers that enter every contest in the book. Gombac lives in New York (no airfare necessary, get it?). But, should she be the winner, we're about to see another Sony blunder. First of all, the rules state as follows:

"Only one entry per person. If multiple entries are received for the same entrant, ONLY THE FIRST ENTRY SUBMITTED BY THAT ENTRANT WILL QUALIFY for entry in the Contest and SUBSEQUENT ENTRIES submitted by that entrant shall be DISQUALIFIED." [emphasis added.]

Jocelyn Gombac entered a video earlier, and "mysteriously" the video and her account have been deleted. Perhaps she believed that her "Don't Rain on My Parade" skit that she posted day the contest ended, was better than her first....but, TOO BAD! Folks...go to the youtube.com/showusyourstreisand page, scroll down to the Group Members page, go to page #4, and see "sobelita," (Posted 1 video) to the right, and several people down, see "jocelyngombac," (Posted 1 video). When you attempt to view jocelyngombac's first video, it has been removed, and the account closed!

That is absolutely foul play. Wake up, Sony, and start playing by your own the rules. You can't possibly announce "sobelita" (Jocelyn's sister's name is June Sobel) as the winner, because she entered under a different name, and as I stated, "mysteriously" discount the first video she submitted. Gombac's first video posted is the ONLY video that would apply as a legitimate submission. Her rendition of "Don't Rain on My Parade," regardless of how "original and creative" the judges may think it is, SHOULD and MUST be disqualified, per the Sponsor's (Sony's) own rules and regulations.

If you want to set up a contest on the worldwide web, don't be too surprised if the web itself substantiates or discredits either an individual or a conglomerate corporation for NOT following the rules. Nothing contained in this post is anything more than public domain information, and all that is stated here was derived online.

No wonder all this secrecy. Hear ye, Sony...per your own legal tenor on the website, the "sobelita" video is categorically and undeniably disqualified. PERIOD.

I would like to congratulate my good friends who have Won the Video Contest. I am so happy for you as you are such huge Barbra fans. Please dont be affected by the jealous venom being spewed by the not so fortunates.

If she REALLY cares about her fans, she needs to be informed that Sony perpetrated a fraud contest, in her good name. THAT, Forrest, is something she NEEDS to know.

I come to this site not only because I'm a Barbra Streisand fan and have been for more than four decades, but because I share her same outlook -- on politics, global warming, HIV research, etc. not just to gush. I have linked up to most of her suggested sites and have learned so much. Forrest, you don't still believe in the tooth fairy and the MSM, do you?

If Barbra REALLY cares about her fans, I mean REALLY cares about her fans, she should tell Sony to give at least one ticket to one of the people whose pets placed in the Top 20 of that sinful pet contest!!!

Yes, its sad we could not all win and go to NY. Be happy for the winners. Seeing Barbra live is the best experiece ever. I was fortunate enough to see her live twice in my life, and though I would give anything to see her at the club, I say good for the winners. Its not nice to be a poor loser, and now it seems like we will all be able to see her online streaming the next week. We are all winners as long as she keeps singing and making movies we can enjoy. Thanks Barbra, you are the one and only living legend . No one will ever be like you.

If the contest is fair, then post a list of the winners. I have a feeling that those who entered the contest were profiled according to age, place of residence, and if they are married. Some contests like this one have given people are chance to go to an event if they line up early outside the venue, even if it meant camping out. Some major entertainers have done this.

No sour grapes here. I didn't win an entry to the Village Vanguard performance. But it was so exciting to have the CHANCE to win. WOW !!
So.... to all of the fans that will be there, I'm thrilled for all of you and hope you'll share your memories of this special night with the rest of us.

For those complaining that they entered and didnt see their videos, entered more than once, entered all contest given... if you read the rules you would see that you should only have entered once because "only one entry per person" was accepted and Barbra, Sony & their sponsor were "not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, damaged, or postage due mail or e-mail, or for Internet, computer hardware and software, phone, and/or any other technical errors, malfunctions, and delays" and if you wanted to know who won you would need to send a self-address, stamp envelope to the address given in the rules!

It was a fair contest so let those who won enjoy their 15 minutes of fame... but a lifetime of the best memory they'll have!!!

Why are so many people so angry? If you were not one of the lucky 100 winners then it was not meant for you to go. You should be happy for the ones who were chosen to go.

Congrates on the winners. I've been a fan my whole life. Thanks to my mom. She's been a fan since she was seven, shes now forty six. I even got the pleasure of being named after the one and only Barbra Streisand. And So did my sister, except my name is Barbra Joan, And my sister is Katie (after Barbra Streisand) in the Way We Were. Mrs. Streisand saved my moms life, her music calms my moms soul. I'm sorry she didn't win. I really tried my best at the game and pre-order Mrs. Streisands' new cd and entering the swepstakes. I did it in her name for her, my name for her and me.
