I'm a fan (and you should be too) because...
the first movie I ever saw in a theater was "What's Up Doc" way back in 1972! Of course I was merely a child at the time, but I was hooked instantly by this fascinating woman. She was funny, smart, beautiful--I could go on & on--better stop me!! I was in awe and have been ever since. A defining moment for me was seeing "Yentl" when I was 16 years old. I was an unhappy teen (to say the least) and this story and Barbra's amazing performance & voice gave me such hope. It taught me something about being true to myself and who I was no matter what the cost. In learning more & more about Barbra's entire career at that point, that seemed to be a constant theme in her life. By the time "Prince of Tides" came around, I could relate so much of my life to the themes that interested Barbra. I have felt this connection for years now and feel that Barbra has been a true hero in my life--and I don't even know her! Then of course there is her music---that voice and incredible ear for what is truly beautiful. I can really escape when listening to Barbra sing . Well, I've gone on long enough, but needless to say I will be listening & watching for the rest of my life.
Thanks Barbra,
Mark C.
