I first heard (and saw) Barbra in the 60's, on TV, on an album and then at the Coconut Grove (at the old Ambassador Hotel) and at the Hollywood Bowl. The experience at the Grove was amazing. My husband and I were students, around the same age as Barbra, poor as could be, but I had to see and hear her live. Somehow we got seated and ordered the "minimum" drinks (we couldn't afford anything else). The room was packed with celebrities and I just had on an old cloth coat and some schmatah dress.
