Barbra’s Statement on the Passing of Senator Ted Kennedy
AUGUST 26, 2009, 4:52 pm
Ted Kennedy was America's Senator for so long and he inspired so many millions of us with his wisdom and compassion. He is gone but he leaves us with his vision of America to guide us and his clear voice that will reverberate forever. He was always a fighter for justice, working to help those left behind. He will be terribly missed.

I'm Brazilian and I would like to have had someone like Ted Kennedy as our Senator...The Brazil needs to fight for justice and ethical politics. He and his family are so important to the whole world.

I totally agree with Ms Streisand's comments regarding Senator Kennedy. Being Irish we grew up being so aware of him and his interest in bringing a sense of justice to where the monied and powerful closed gates and access. He helped bring peace to Northern Ireland in a very hands on and principled way - taking risks when neccesary and saying 'stop there' when he saw wrongdoing on either side.
I had the pleasure of having a lenghty meeting with him once in 1990 - where he showed over a period of an hour an innate intelligence and decency coupled with compassion and understanding. He knew his agenda that day very well indeed. I still proudly hang in my study, a photo of the great man and I talking at this meeting. The first thing my mother said to me yesterday when she took in that he had died was - "didn't he meet with you once"... There's Irish mothers for you..
Teddy you made a lasting and real difference to this world. You leave it a better place for your efforts. Rest in peace your blessed old liberal you.....

Agree - my sympathy goes out to the family and communties that he touched. He showed us that life is lived with many joys, sorrows, victories and realities. And living it graciously and with kindness after many life experiences is what Teddy displayed to all. God Bless Him!

Coming from Vancouver, Canada originally, I understood Senator Kennedy's life-long battle for universal health care. I always admired his sense of selflessness and duty to his fellow Americans. He serves as a great example for our youth to follow today. I wish I could have met him.

I feel as though millions of Americans lost a huge voice, a man who was in their corner. Whether you agree or disagree with his policies, one cannot deny that he was consistent. He set himself apart from his brothers with his liberal, far left policies, and became his own man....but more importantly, he stayed true to his principles and his beliefs in what was right for the American people. I know I feel there is a huge hole in our government without Ted Kennedy...May he rest in peace!

Im an immigrant but i truly believe in the "american dream" i defend this country and president Obama like i really was born here.... i love this land and its flag..... After the death of SenTed Kennedy I started to read more about him..... and really I hope more politicians become like him, and really starting to work for "the people"..... Im sure I will miss sen Kennedy like millions of Americans do.....
Im surprised how BArbra didnt make any statement about Michael Jackson death, he was one of the most talented musicians that US had, i miss him a lot, i remember to play MIchael and Barbra constantly since I was 13 years old.... I know that michael admired Barbra.... why Barbra didnt make any statement about him??
Ok, that's all....
Re: Barbra’s Statement on the Passing of Senator Ted Kennedy
I was sent to Spain by the Arts authorities of my country - República Argentina - to observe Theatre on TV. We settled down in Madrid on a Saturday morning and took off for Sevilla to join the religious days of Semana Santa.
As we talked to the local people ready to celebrate the holiday, we were told about the bull´s classical "corrida" to occur before the due retreat.
We attended the classical momento and, all of a sudden, the whole public was
applauding the presence of a young couple at the most important place in the arena.
It was him: Eduard Kennedy and his blonde first wife, that sweet pianist who was at his side from the departure of President Kennedy.
He looked vbrant but humble and we stood as South Americans applauding the
benefits that the Kennedys embroidered for our continent. And I mean "Alliance for Progress" that most Americans were shocked at.
My reverence goes to his memory.
To Jack´s memory and also to his distinguished wife, the late Jacqueline Bouvier.

Call me crazy but I cannot figure out how to communicate on this website. I have a question to pose to Streisand but have no idea how to accomplish the task.
Working for those left behind? Ha!
I guess he was working all these years for Mary Jo Kopechne who HE "left behind" to die in the Chappaquiddick River so many years ago!
