All Night Long
never seen it.
it got very mixed reviews, and Barbra said just recently that she didn't like it.
so, my question is: should i buy it? i'm not a collector, but i'd buy it if it's a good movie. thanks!

it's the only film that I couldn't get at least for region 2. I only found this dvd for region 1. I look for it in ebay from time to time but till now without success. Do you know if it has been re-edited?

Daphna, I would certainly "rent it", but from what you wrote, I do not think you should buy it.

problem is.. i can't find it for rent.
Maybe you can find somewhere to buy it used, and not so expensive. They are some companies that sell old dvds both new and used inexpensively. I wish you luck in your research.

For Region 2 or better PAL in this case it was only released as video to the best of my knowledge.

Just now I have bought "All Night Long" Dvd Region 2 trough ebay.
The seller "mooseland" has three more dvd's and seems to be honest because has 99'7 % positives votes.

Hola!, Soy un fan de Barbra de Barcelona, y hace unas semanas conseguí un DVD Region 2 de "All night long". Lo compré en Ebay y es una edición sueca (titulo en sueco "Nattöppet"). Audio en Inglés y subtitulada en sueco.
Hi! I´m a Barbra fan from Barcelona, and a few weeks ago I got a Region 2 "All night long" DVD. I bought it on Ebay, and it´s a Swedish edition (Swedish title "Nattöppet). The audio is the original american one and it has Swedish subtitles.

A principios de Noviembre conseguí también en Ebay un dvd como el tuyo, seguramente del mismo distribuidor sueco, muchas gracias.
Yo vivo a tan sólo 300 kilometros de Barcelona, en Zaragoza y me alegra que seamos más los que por aquí nos interesamos por Streisand, a ver si así conseguimos que organicen un concierto cerquita. Aunque hace unas pocas semanas comenté en casa que si Barbra vuelve a cantar intentaré conseguir entradas sin importar el lugar, con la única excepción de Oceania, que nos pilla un poco lejos. Y graciosamente dos día después apareció la noticia de que posiblemente en primavera ella cantará en...Sidney.

Well, i'm thrilled to say i've finally seen it! I can't believe it, i've been looking everywhere. I somehow thought it was supposed to be quite a bad film, but i honestly enjoyed it. I thought the plot was nice. nothing special, but not bad at all. Barbra was really great. I was suprised at how great she was.
To sum it all up: Nice Surprise!
Yes, Daphna, it IS a nice surprise. Not the "awful" film so many critics disliked. You see, Barbra took the role when another actress (I think, Lisa Eichorn, not sure about this) pulled out at the last minute. I remember the Movie Critic, the late Gene Siskel, saying he believed Barbra played this part very well, that she was quite sexy and vulnerable, at the same time. It was the movie itself that got bad reviews. I think people expected something more powerful from Gene Hackman and Barbra; it WAS an unusual choice of roles for her, but that's what makes her special, being unafraid to take chances. Happy you finally got to see it !

I liked it. I recently watched it on Encore. I have a collection of Barbra's movies I had the opportunity to record on my DVR. They were on commercial free cable.
As it seems, this film is not in the front position amnong Barbra films. I personally have watched it "properly and fully" just recently - and - I had to see it twice.
The other time I saw it was on TV in German language, which I don´t understand very well.
All Night Long was a big surprise for me and still is. As for me, it feels somehow very different from other "more popular" Barbra films, but I feel like watching it again soon.
I absolutely agree with the critic contarmac58 mentioned here :
"Barbra played this part very well, ..... she was quite sexy and vulnerable, at the same time"
and for me - she was different, a good example how great actress she is, though the character of Cheryl wasn´t very Barbra like she played it very plausibly.
I like the film, I like the presence of Annie Girardot and the appealing performance of Gene Hackman, I like the ordinary everyday "boring" atmosphere and the funny situations. I like the interaction between Gene and Barbra, again he is so different from the other Barbra partners.... Maybe it´s more French or European film in american location because of the director.
It is a nice "little" comedy film for a change.
