A Funny(? ) concert story

A Funny(? ) concert story

I waited 45 years to see Barbra perform. I was never able to travel or afford a ticket while raising 4 children. Finally, I got my chance a couple of years ago in Fort Lauderdale. There were only really expensive tickets or nose-bleed seats left but I had promised myself that if she ever performed live again, I would be there. I bought 2 tickets for $1500, every penny I had, and waited for the big night. The hotel we stayed in gave us directions to the wrong venue. We had to fight our way through heavy traffic and arrived 25 minutes before the show began running and panting all the way. As we ran down the stairway to the floor, an usher took my tickets, and after checking the location said, "We have a little problem". My heart started to race and I thought I would pass out. Could I have been sold forged tickets by ticketmaster? She asked us to follow her to a desk that had been set up and explained that since Barbra was recording a CD that evening our seats had to be removed to make room for the equipment. Not a good thing to say to a life-long fan who had a heart attack a few years ago. I felt my heart beating in my ears and I started to shake when, with way too long of a pause, I was told they would accommodate us in another section that was equal to what we had paid for.
Of course, the concert I had waited a lifetime for was worth every penny, a traffic jam, and a cardiac spasm.

i attended that same concert

and i was sitting in the nose bleed seats
but i enjoyed every minute of the concert
plus i had a good pair of binoculars and saw her perfect

i also saw her in 2000 at Madison square garden

wish i could see her in concert. For a 20 year old, it's way, WAY too expensive.

I saw that show on DVD in Ft Lauderdale. I attended her show at Madison Square Garden on October 2009. I spent a beautiful dollar to see her in New York in section 341, also nose bleed seats - so high up I could only see the video screen to my right because the one on the left was block by the hockey game scoreboard. They never move that thing...anyway, the best thing about seeing Barbra in NY is the audience itself. Oprah was in the front row with Gayle, Rosie O in the second row, I also saw Tony Bennett and god know who else. The ground floor was a show within a show itself. Katie Couric was spotted and so was Diane Sawyer. That was Monday's show. On Wednesday, I found out in the local news that the second show there in attendance was President Clinton and Hillary. I had heard there was a champagne toast or something celebrating their anniversary. Had I known, I'm not sure if I would have picked Oprah or a chance to see a former President in person. Either way, it was a very exciting night for me.

Below is a link to some clips from Il Divo. At some point you will get to where David Miller talks about touring with Streisand and his favorite part is the first five rows are all tv faces. It's true!
