Barbra starring in Sunset Blvd.
Ive heard a few rumours of Barbra starring in the movieversion of Sunset Blvd. I think it would be fantastic. How many of you agree with me. maybe we could start an online petition or something. She needs to make another movie, perferably a musical. She does not need to direct it, although Yentl was amazing.

I read that several musical performers are being considered for the role of Norma Desmond...Glenn Close, Elaine Paige, Liza Minelli and BARBRA! Supposedly 2010 may launch the beginning of the overdued film version of Webber's Sunset Blvd.. Funny Girl the revival may take place in 2011-12....it would be perfect timing to announce Barbra as Norma. If it is offered to Barbra I hope she accepts, her fans have waited for many years to see her do another musical. I smell an "Oscar"...Barbra can you hear me?
My good god. Barbra would be perfect casting for "Sunset Blvd". She is now too old for the part. I don't think they would give it to her nor would she accept it. Norma Desmond is in her early 40's. Barbra will be 70 before it ever gets filmed. Remember "Hello Dolly" she was too young for that part. Our hopes of see Barbra in "Sunset Blvd" we may never see. Don't get me wrong. I would sell my soul to see her in it. I never met a fan that didn't love her in "Dolly". Note: I did a bit part with her in "The Mirror has Too Faces" with photos to prove it & I had the experience of a lifetime. Long live our Queen Barbra.

Age is very different today than it was back in 1950 when Sunset Blvd. came out. Barbra would be the perfect choice for the lead in the film version of Webber's Sunset. Her recording of two of the songs on her Back to Broadway album were simply breathtaking, and her many years in Hollywood gives her the unique frame of reference to really plunge the depths of the character. I really hope she does it.
