I am sad to say that I've only been introduced to Barbra's music through GLee, but am thoroughly glad that I have been introduced. Lea Michele has done a phenomenal job on GLee and "Spring Awakening", and I believe that she would do just as well as Fanny in "Funny Girl". But I honestly have to agree with Simon Cowell on this one: "You should never sing a Whitney Huston or Barbra Streisand song because it can never be sung better than it has." I am a firm believer that there is more than one way to shear a sheep--so to speak-- but Mrs. Barbra portrayed Fanny's character so perfectly that no one can really ever re-make a modern "Funny Girl", which is one of the reasons I suspect it hasn't been done in the past 42 years. It absolutely would be a lovely thing to see, and ,although I can't see it happening, maybe someone will take you suggestion and run all the way with it.
