Dame Shirley Bassey's New CD THE PERFORMANCE

Dame Shirley Bassey's New CD THE PERFORMANCE

Has anyone heard Dame Shirley Bassey's new cd THE PERFORMANCE? It is fantastic. This is the kind of cd I would like to hear next from Barbra. Current musical artists contributed songs written specially for Dame Shirley Bassey, and the results are great. Standout tracks include "Almost There" and "The Performance of My Life," a track written by Pet Shop Boys. The lyric to this song brought Dame Shirley to tears when she first heard it. Clearly, Dame Shirley is emotionally engaged with the material and there isn't a single throwaway on the entire disc. Also included is a song I would bet money was a contender to be the theme song for the last James Bond film, a song called "No Good About Goodbye." I have no idea why it wasn't used, but shame on them.

Thanks for the recommendation. She is certainly one of those rare performers who IS a genre all of her own. (Along with Ms Streisand.)

Her "This is my life" is still an all-time favourite of mine. And her "How do you keep the music playing" is so touching, yet so different from Barbra's version.

The Dame is rare one. She is her genre. Its a shame it didnt really excel in the charts

I agree with you about the album, I bought it and thought it was excellent, but should we really be discussing Dame Shirley Bassey on Barbra's page? I don't think so, but thats only my opinion don't mean to offend anyone, sorry if I have.
