Barbra's music is a tonic/WHAT ARE YOUR 3 FAVOURITE STREISAND ALBUMS
Remember Barbra's words in the 1994 concert about did you every feel like you wanted to hide away from the busy world in her introduction to Lazy Afternoon and she said she felt like that all the time. With all the stress in life I truly find Barbra's music a tonic especially her last two releases the triple dvd the concerts and the latest cd Love is the answer. At first I thought was it going to be a Randy Crawford pretty song' love is the answer now is the time for love from the late seventies early 1980's but I was mistaken. Even so the album is so lovely with each late night listen as I tend to do it takes lifes stresses away and I have Barbra and her talented musicians to thank for that. I love both the cd's on the deluxe album edition and think Barbra's voice sounds totally beautiful in the uncluttered and pure qaurted version in cd2. Now I like to listen to the whole album at night for an hour or so just before I go to bed and it takes lifes stresses away it really works for relaxing you and this album LOVE IS THE ANSWER is one of Miss Streisand many most special albums eveyrthing is positive and in the name of love. If you had to choose one album what would it be me it would have to be A STAR IS BORN but if I could have two most favourite albums it would be LOVE IS THE ANSWER with the broadway album making a close third. What are your three most favourite Streisand albums?????

I agree and Love is the answer is an amazing collection.
The Concert 1994 is still another one of my absolute favourite CD's.
As for a third, how about the Movie Album or Till I loved you or the Broadway Album or...
See, I can never narrow it down!
Now GALS, this is a totally UNFAIR question (ha). Each one is remarkable with different "stories " behind them. Barbra's voice is ALWAYS amazing and she's not afraid to experiment with various styles, yet not losing her own unique identity. I suppose I'd have to say "My Name is Barbra" since this was the first album of hers I ever heard at a very young age, and songs like "Where is the Wonder" and "Why did I Choose You" made such an impression on me. Both songs moved me to tears, and still do ! Going forward, I totally fell for "Stoney End" which has such songs as "No Easy Way Down", which is GREAT. Her interpretations of newer, more modern material shows her vast range of taste and integrity. I get a kick of out of hearing her sing the theme from "the Flim Flam Man", it's fun and upbeat ! Oh wow, only 3, huh ?? Well, for me, it's a tie for 3rd favorite, "Lazy Afternoon" and "Higher Ground"...she uses her musical talent to make us feel connected with nature, the spirit, the love surrounding us. The songs are absolutely wonderful, esp. "A Child is Born", and "Letters that Cross in the Mail ", the second having resonated with me that very summer as I corresponded with a "new" love in my life who was MILES away. "We are Standing on Holy Ground" and the beautiful "Avinu Malkeinu", which, according to my "adopted Jewish Mom" down in Florida, sends chills up her spine when she listens to it. I sent it as a gift and apparently, it "keeps on giving " !! I honestly believe that of all Barbra's music. Sometimes I'll pull out an album which I haven't heard in a long time and I discover something new and fresh, or be fortunate enough to re-visit WHY I fell in love with her right from the start !
Have a great day ! Fran from NJ
PS I'm always adding something, aren't I ? Every single one of her concert albums is absolutely terrific. After all, she was singing to us LIVE and there can never be nor has there been a live performer like Barbra ( I was lucky enough to be at her 1994 New York appearance). I guess there's a special place in my heart for the Concert in Central Park (which I now also own on DVD). A dear friend from High School gave it to me on my b'day knowing I was totally enthralled with the TV performance. It brings me back to my 16 year old self, the truly indescribable feeling I had watching/listening to this marvelous lady, surrounded by my family...it's a sweet memory. Again, Fran from NJ
Oh man, what a challenging question. Sooooooooooo many to choose from, it is very hard to narrow it down to just three. But since that is the question at hand. For me it has to be what I listen to the most. They are- " The Movie Album" (my favorite of all her works), "Love Is The Answer", and "A Love Like Ours". I have excluded the all of her live performances because I don't concider those albums, they are performances. And seeing Ms. Streisand live and hearing her live is Barbra at her finest !! I never tire of watching her concerts. She take me to places not of this world. I was sitting by the window late last night with my Ipod listening to her sing, "Bewitched" from " One Night Only", and I was somewhere out in those night clouds I was watching float by-pure pleasure it was I tell you true. I applaud her performance at the Vanquard, simply put----Pure Pleasure. John Renner
I actually know very few, since i started noticing her about a year and a half ago. from those few that i know, i would pick Yentl (everything involved with this project is simply perfect- story, film, music), The Broadway Album and her very first album.
She's god's greatest creations
The new album What matters most? Makes me sob every time i play it.
I love Yentl and The Broadway album too.
But that leaves a lot out.
My favs are all sound tracks: A Star is Born, The Way We Were & Funny Girl.............
It's hard to limit it to only three. What Matters Most touches me in a way that I just can't explain. I have always liked The Way We Were, The Broadway Album and A Star is Born. I include Higher Ground in my gospel mix.
Superman
ButterFly
Guilty
They are like 'Lays" potato chips~ you can't have just one (or three). (you have to be old like me to understand that tag line).....
not trying to be greedy, but I don't want to choose 3- I want them all.
Exactly
all!
.
And what is your favourite flavour? I always like trying something new - recently it was Love Is the Answer, now it is What Matters Most
But I have my all time favourites :
The Second Barbra Streisand Album
Butterfly
Wet
Guilty/Guilty Pleasures
Yentl
Oh no, I could go on and on, so as I said : ALL
