The first film I saw was Hello Dolly but I was just a baby and I had to wait until I got a little older to really enjoy the film. It was in the late seventies after I saw A STAR IS BORN that is the first film I remeber seing and loving. Esther Hoffman John Norman Howard we love you - yes we do! At the end of the seventies hot on the heels of seeing A STAR IS BORN I began to look for more Streisand projects to watch and listen to. I cam across the cassette tape of the original film soundtrack of HELLO DOLLY. I didn't expect it to be so good. I expected it to be so so theatre music that might lull you off to sleep. But how wrong I was this tape was full of beautiful songs like 'LOVE IS ONLY LOVE', 'ELAGANCE' 'IT TAKES A WOMAN' 'BEFORE THE PARADE PASSES BY' 'JUST LEAVE EVERYTHING TO ME, AND 'DANCING' ALL THE MUSIC WAS SO ENCHANTING AND SO MUSICAL. YOU LOVED THE HUMOROUS BIT WHEN AN OLD MAN COMES IN AND SAYS 'I CAME IN LATE JUST AFTER IT ONLY....(takes a moment) The next film I saw was 'The main event' I waa hoping it would be full of wonderful songs like a star is born. It did have a good soundtrack including two versions of 'The main Event/fight' and balllad but Barbra wasn;t Ester Hoffman in this film who i had fallen in love with! She was Hillary Kramer in the Main Event and she was a perfume expert. When her fiances fail her she is told she has a boxer named Kid Natuarl Skanlin who she has on her books. So she has to get him back in the ring again and fighting again and boy does she have her job cut out for this out of shape out of work boxer but they fall in love and when he finally wins the fight at the end she doesn't want their relationship to end so she throws the towel in the ring and then they are stuck with each other. Barbra looked in great shape in this film especailly in the opening gymnasium scene. Keep the good work up Barbra we love you.
