It was such a pleasure to hear the strains of the "Way We Were" swelling tonight and to see Barbara present the Oscar for best director. It was poignant to see her give the presentation for Best Director to a woman for the very first time. I think of Barbra as a singer, but she is a fine director as well: the Prince of Tides and Yentl were just amazing. And so the woman met the moment. Congratulations Barbra, and I am glad that it worked out the way you hoped.
