I wanted to give you this information which is what happened to my sister. For 2 years we went back and forth to the doctors, emergency rooms, and specialists. My sister was a nurse in Labor & Delivery so she worked very hard and on her feet all night long mostly running. For 2 years, she complained about a girgling in her chest, back pain and extreme fatigue. The ER doctors finally gave her heart medications and told her to see a cardiologist. She worked at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She saw a cardiologist who accused her of being lazy, threw the medication into the garbage and instructed her to see a psychiatrist. My sister at this point could barely walk. He told her that heart tests are based on men's health so her test results were invalid and that she was just lazy. About one year later, after finally being diagnosed and scheduled for a triple bypass, that same cardiologist in conference with the heart surgeons advised that they should wait until she had "a little heart attack first." My own feeling is he buries his mistakes. Thank God, the surgeons vetoed his advice and performed the triple bypass surgery. She lived for about 13 years longer before she passed away from a heart attack. Barbara, I hope that you can make some impression on the healthcare community. They were callous, unfeeling and uncaring for my sister's health and this was at supposedly a very good hospital, where she was a nurse for 17 years. This scares me to death. What would happen in a less qualified hospital environment. Thank you.
