Re: New Interview: Barbra sits down with Oprah.
Hi All,
I am hoping Barbra or someone from Barbra's camp reads this..
I am from Australia and I lovvvve the movie "The Way We Were" I saw the interview with Oprah, Barbra spoke of a sequel.. OH my god. How exciting... I am eager to read this screenplay, I know Barbra said it was good... can anyone out there help me??
I don't know the first thing on getting my hands on the sequel. Other than join this website and post this to the ether.
FYI - Robert & Barbra looked so at home together.. It was great to see..
Don't forget... I wannnnnt to readdddd the Sequel... has this screenplay ever been published??? If not, you really, really, really need to get it out to the public ASAP...
Sooooo many people around the world would LOVE to read the second phase of Hubbell, Katie and Rachel (daughter) life and how the daughter turned out?? Is Rachel like Katie? Does Hubbell and Katie reconnect at the end?? I am defiantly keen to be one of the lucky people to be able to read this screenplay.. So please help...

Re: New Interview: Barbra sits down with Oprah.
I saw this Oprah show. It was great. Afterward I rushed to Amazon and bought a copy of the book. I sent it to a Wilshire Bl Los Angeles address to be autographed, then to be presented as a gift for my partner. I was so excited that it came back so quickly. It had a note saying Ms Streisand does not accept unsolicited mail. It this true. I would really love my book autographed. What do I do? I'm perplexed.

A lovely interview and reunion.
Re: New Interview: Barbra sits down with Oprah.
Dear Barbra,
Wow, I was so excited to see another Barbra interview- I love brilliant minds, I know that Barbra doesnt know me, but she's always been there for me in a way. When I was 15, I lived in a very dysfunctional home. I would go to my room, and listen to her albums, they were an escape for me. There in my imagination, and through her music- I could escape reality. (at least for awhile). OMG, then someone took me to see the movie Funny Girl, and I was mesmorized by the theater, and the arts and her work. THEN, I won the Star is Born standee from the radio station: 1580 KDAY, that had been at Groman's Chinese theater! I KNEW when I called 3 times I was going to win! (and I did), I could hardly fit it into my room it was so big! And then, in 2006 somehow I was able to get tickets to her last show, on the last day of the last concert at the staple center! (I prayed you wouldnt cancel it) It was a miracle. I dont know how I ever got lucky enough to get those tickets. But over the years, I just KNEW again, deep in my heart- I wouldnt leave this earth without being able to see her live! And, I did, I was so happy to be there it was emotional for me. It was one of the best memories and experiences of my life. It's like you say, how your inner reality becomes your outer reality. I know im a just a number in a sea of trillions of fans, but I want to say thank you. Thank you for your songs, your movies, and the work you do for women's hearts. My mother had a heart attack at age 48, when I was 19 and died- so I donated in her memory. I just turned 50 the other day, and I still find myself reverting to your music during hard times. God gave you a gift, and thank you for sharing it with us- maybe thats why he gave it to you, to reach the souls of kids like me who needed something to help them escape. I am so glad that now you are very happy. I am happy for you. You'll probably never read this, but I just really wanted you to know that. Know that you are loved, from one soul to another.
Re: New Interview: Barbra sits down with Oprah.
Dear Barbra,
So glad to see you are raising awareness about women's heart disease.
I have been a long-time advocate for women and heart disease. First as a coronary care nurse, where I saw first hand how men and women were treated differently.
One day two patients were admitted; one man and one women. Each was in their early 50s, both had similar symptoms and similar risk factors for heart disease. The male was immediately taken for an angiogram, while the woman was placed on a cardiac monitor and given the diagnosis rule out angina, versus anxiety! I advocated on this woman's behalf to get the same treatment as her male counter-part. Turns out she had the heart disease and needed bypass surgery, while his coronary arteries were clear.
I spent several years as a cardiology research nurse at both Toronto General Hospital and Stanford University. I can now say that men and women are treated similarly; however, women often do present with different symptoms. An upset stomach and fatigue might be the first symptoms a women presents with. Further education is definitely needed.
While in research, I noted men always showed up for any post-op or rehab appointments because the woman made sure he got there. Women on the other hand had a difficult time getting to appointments. At one time we had a 100% drop out rate for women and rehab.
Now I am a media psychologist and I study the effects of media on health. Entertainment education if a fascinating field. People will respond to health-related information that has been embedded in entertainment. As an example, in one study there was an increase in pap testing when a character in a soap opera was diagnosed with cervical cancer. I was able to show young women who saw a story about breast cancer, were more likely to conduct self breast exams than those who were randomized to traditional educational pamphlets.
I am sure your message on Oprah made some people think about their own risk of heart disease.
Imagine if you made a movie where one of the characters had a cardiac problem. You could weave the education throughout the movie in an entertaining way. The audience would benefit the most as they would be entertained and educated.
By the way, love the hat!

Re: New Interview: Barbra sits down with Oprah.
Dear Barbara;
Just want to say, really loved you on Oprah last week. Went right on-line and bough "My Passion For Design." Each day since I read a few pages with my morning tea. Thoroughly enjoying it!! The vintage clothing section perhaps my favorite. I also collect vintage textiles and lace. (In fact I am a paper maker, use to use odd bits of lace in handmade paper note cards - beautiful, think you could appreciate them). I think we are true kindred spirits. Thanks so very much for sharing all the details about creating your home. Reading the book is the next best thing to coming and having TEA WITH YOU personal
).
Continued blessings on a life well lived.
Much love Rosalind
Re: New Interview: Barbra sits down with Oprah.
I will keep this simple although I believe that Barbra Streisand is anything but simple......a lovely lady with a beautiful voice, and a heart that is in the right place for all the good deeds she has done for others. God Bless You. I am in awe of the beautiful home she has designed and completely thrilled when my copy of the book arrived today. I sat in wonder as I turned the pages, and when I find some spare time I will sit and read what she has written. If I could turn back the clock I would have become a designer, instead I became a nurse. And my hat goes off to Oprah. I have laughed and cried many a time along with you. I was never fortunate enough to be in your audience, but I had a front row seat many times right here in my home. God Bless You for all your unselfish acts. You are truly one in a million, you will be missed.
Re: New Interview: Barbra sits down with Oprah.
Like the previous post, I too thought Robert Redford behaved horribly. I never knew he had such an amazingly fragile ego. His comments about not being sure Barbra was up to the acting, are really disgusting. When "The Way We Were" was made she was a much bigger star than he was. And the success of the film helped launch him into superstardom. But you could see he refuses to admit that. And after all Barbra already had won an Academy Award for acting, something he has never done.
I guess now we really know why there was never a sequel. And given his attitude, it's probably a good thing. At least Barbra was great on the show. And her simple piano version of the title song was wonderful. Her voice and emotional performance was very moving.
Re: New Interview: Barbra sits down with Oprah.
Barbra and Robert Redford were wonderful.. Barbra's always been herself at any interview I've watched and in person. Robert Redford is wonderful! He is what he is, that's what makes him so great. I have followed them since the early 60's and never have been disappointed. Thank You Oprah for the interview, and Thank You Barbra and Robert, to both of you, I love your talent and what you give to the world.
Re: New Interview: Barbra sits down with Oprah.
Dear Barbra,
Your interview with Oprah was wonderful! You are so beautiful! My heart flip-flopped when Robert Redford walked out onto the set. I could watch the two of you together every day of the week. Thank-you for all the love and light you shine in this world.

Re: New Interview: Barbra sits down with Oprah.
November 16, 2010 marked my 60th birthday. It also marked a 46 year love affair with Barbra, as I have been a fan of her work since 1964. Everyone who knows me also knows how much I love and admire Barbra as an artist and a person. I should mention as well that I adore Robert Redford. In fact, in the office from which I am writing this hangs pictures of both of them.
Since I am from Chicago, another well known fact about me, thanks to this fabulous interview, I was able to convince my students here in Denver that I had arranged with Oprah, in the Windy City, to air this show in honor of my birthday. I did later tell them that was a lie, but I couldn't think of a better way to begin mt own festivities if I had planned it myself. It was a wonderful show case for Barbra's brilliance, humor and sensitivity. And, of course, I loved hearing her incredible voice as always.
Thank you Barbra for adding to the memorable event that was my birthday. It shall forever "light the corners of my mind." You have added to my life in ways you shall never know, but shall forever impact me. I'm sure that is true for millions of others as well. We love you.
Re: New Interview: Barbra sits down with Oprah.
I just was able to watch the Oprah show with Barbara Streisand. I have to say for one hour I was lost in the show and forgot about all my problems. I have never pictured my dream house till I saw yours..........the outside is unbelievable and it brings serenety to me.
At the end when you were talking about the heart charity for woman and you said "If you have a daughter" that is when it ended for me and I just broke down crying. I lost my beautiful 16 year old daughter 3 months ago not to heart disease but to a pulminary embolism caused by the birth control pill.
Watching the show actually kept me engaged in it and I thank you for that.
About the interview.
I watched it and i really loved it...... I wished Oprah had more time about Barbra's cause about Women's Heart Disease... I post the contest in my FB all the time.... i think people dont know that Heart Disease is killing more women that all the cancer combine....
But wonderful how she sang, i loved Robert Redford there......
Very nice interview and i loved it...
My question is to Barbra, what does she think about Sarah Palin trying to run for Office, dont take me wrong but she is the most ignorant woman ever, why Hillary doesnt run for Office instead of Palin.... I dont try to be mean or disrespectful but Hillary is clever and has experience, how Sarah Palin can be compared to her?
I wished i could ask Barbra this...... Say hello to Samantha and Renata..... Kisses.
Re: New Interview: Barbra sits down with Oprah.
You know, Barbra was wonderful, warm, human, honest and I have to say I was creeped out by Redford. Everyone says he's so "reserved" and isn't it wonderful that he deigned to come on Oprah, but I found him to be arrogant as heck. What was all that about how Pollack came to him and they both discussed how they didn't know if Barbra would be able to act well enough, if she commit herself to the role - how insulting. I found it to be really condescending on his part - my God, Barbra already had an OSCAR under her belt.
The whole time he was onstage made me really uncomfortable. And I don't care if he's "shy" on stage - he's an ACTOR. ACT like you know how to do an interview. ACT like you're happy to be there. ACT like you're glad you did the film, instead of like you were dragged kicking and screaming into it. It was a great film, the The Way We Were SONG he dreaded so much was an instant classic.
Sorry to be so grumpy about this - but I went from admiring him and thinking he was kinda hot to being repulsed by him.
Maybe Barbra wasn't bothered by his remarks (although I saw her flinch when he said them) but I found him to be insulting and sexist. "Gee, I hope she isn't gonna be SINGING in this film!"
Puhlease.
Ew.
Re: New Interview: Barbra sits down with Oprah.
Dear Oprah - A million thanks for such a splendid program. You are a class act and I can tell Barbra feels comfortable with you. How did you ever get "Bob" Redford? No matter how. What a wonderful treat to hear these two talents discuss one of the best movies of all times - TWWW.
Dear Barbra - How can I continue to thank you? I've been a loyal and devoted fan for 45 years (since I was 12) and you continue to inspire me to be the best I can be every day. Received my copy of the book yesterday too, and as I suspected it would be - it's elegant, exquisite, visually sumptous and a treasure. One of the unexpected joys in reading the narrative is that you give us a peek into your creative thinking process. More than I could have imagined. This peek also gave me clarity into one of your statements on Oprah's show. I can only try to imagine the level of "pressure" when performing. What if you have a cold that day? Or are hoarse or just not feeling in tip top form? Nonetheless, you go on, and in my humble opinion, continue to give 120% of yourself. When I'm feeling under the weather I can call in sick, stay home and pull the covers over my head. You don't always have that luxury. Yet, speaking for what I believe might be other fan's feelings, you never have, nor ever will, disappoint us. We marvel at you and the music, just as I did again watching the show and enjoying your heartfelt rendering of TWWW. Continued happiness, love and abundance.

Re: New Interview: Barbra sits down with Oprah.
Dear Ms. Streisand:
I would like to edit this as some things did not work out as planned first of all my 1st donation to charity did not go through properly I contacted crowdrise and it was a problem with an aol browser I changed browser this came to my attention on December 15th I resolved and made a donation 12/15/10 and it went though. Also, Amazon pulled same stunt on me with book, they canceled my order. That's o.k as I will just use money I saved on special edition to donate to campaign. I still have regular edition and wanted the special edition yet everything happens for a reason. So I will have more money to donate Plus I have regular copy of book and love just the same eventually I will find a way to get special edition yet love it just the same. I am not a baby and if I get the non special I am happy. I live with RSD pain all day and night this is nothing. Just wanted to clarify as I always want to tell the truth about everything.
As promised, I made my $100. donation to your charity for research into Women's Heart Disease. I hope my donation helps your cause to fight this disease and brings awareness to people all over the world. I made my donation as a tribute to you as you are the one who is bringing to every ones attention and have a strong committment to this cause. I wish you the best in reaching your goal of $10 Million dollars. I hope I get chosen to ask you a question?
Also, you were just spectacular on Oprah yesterday. I loved the interview, your singing and your chat with Oprah. I loved how Robert Redford came on for you. I love "The Way We Were." Too bad, you never did part 2 of it.
I am very excited about your book. I saw the regular version was released on Tuesday, November 16, 2010. I ordered about 10 copies from Amazon to give as Chanukah gifts. I personally ordered the Special Edition for my self and saw that does not release until November 24, 2010.
The book looks amazing and I am eagerly awaiting it's arrival. I continue to wish you the best in all you do. You are one in a million. Keep being the best at all you do. Congratulations on your being honored at the Jewish Museum in Philly. I saw a picture of you with Jerry Seinfeld and Bette Midler taken at the event. I love that they put a costume from "Yentl" into the Museum.
Best wishes,
Jeffrey Freedman

Re: New Interview: Barbra sits down with Oprah.
I love her, I just watched Funny Girl again this week. One of my all time
favorite movies
I think that they should do a remake of it.
The actress Vanessa Lengies would fit the part.

Re: New Interview: Barbra sits down with Oprah.
I was moved to tears today as Ms. Streisand sang. She is a legend & there will never be anyone who will ever be able to match her talent. As a young school girl, she was my mentor. I can't say how many times I watched "Hello,Dolly" & when I managed to land a part in my high school play (more years ago than I care to remember), I was thrilled. Thank you!!!
Re: New Interview: Barbra sits down with Oprah.
I am 64 years old and I will always think that Barbra is the best singer their ever was. She has always made me cry when she sings certain songs. Oprah show was one of those songs. There is no one that will ever come close to her god given talent.
Re: New Interview: Barbra sits down with Oprah.
