Re: New Crowdrise Contest - Win A Signed Copy of Barbra's Book.
Bonjour Madame B.!
Le livre est magnifique. Les photos sont superbes. Et les idées inspirantes!
I expected no less and I am thrilled with the book. It will NEVER be a coffee table book because coffee is getting nowhere near this precious work of art!
I did not feel the need to get a signed copy. But I wouldn't mind you signing my cup... NO!! Not the sports kind!!! LOL
You see I am the guy at the end of the Vanguard DVD who... stole your paper cup from your stool!
Sorry!!!! (but I did get the blessing from Mrs Lazar -we had become friends- and she sent me an email to tell me she burst out laughing when she saw me just me after the rolling credits)
I was both stunned and delighted to have made it on a Streisand DVD! My red jacket brought me good luck. Hmmmm maybe you could sign that one too....

Dear Barbra,
I know this is a long-shot, but I just wanted to “put it out there”….
Do you think there would be any way you might consider a teensy-weensy book signing??? I absolutely TREASURE the fact that I have a personally signed copy of your book, but to get another book signed by you IN PERSON would mean EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD to me!!!!
Even if it was for one day ANYWHERE in the world, I would be there. I would wait a WEEK IN LINE, in the SNOW, on MY HEAD if I had to!!!! It would really be an ultimate dream come true.
No pressure….. just thought I’d mention it just in case you might consider it….(please, please, PLEASE????)
Again, thank you so much for this amazing masterpiece! I am so enthralled with every minute detail. I love it more and more every day!
With lots of LOVE, ADMIRATION, GRATITUDE and RESPECT,

Re: New Crowdrise Contest - Win A Signed Copy of Barbra's Book.
Barbra,
Thanks for sharing your privacing and exquisite talents of your new home. I totally LOVE your designs. I didn't get a signed copy nor feel that I needed to because everything that you shared in your book already feels as if I was "personally" given access to. So, once again, thank you!
Eeww, I'm gonna squint when I say this but, when I looked at the fold-out photo spread of the barn somehow I felt like there should have been a tree in front - to soften all the hard and sharp edges. Also, to add some shade to the exterior. A lovely Jacaranda (although the fallen leaves would be a nightmare to the pond) or something native to Connecticut that would do well in the California weather. But then again, this would also hide the beauty of the exterior of this fantastic home.
So, just one artist to another, I thought I'd share my thoughts! But otherwise, I love the book!!!!!!!!
Regards,
Adriano

Thank you Ms. Streisand for commenting on your official site. I am glad to know that the book I purchased is authentic and shall treasure it.
Re: New Crowdrise Contest - Win A Signed Copy of Barbra's Book.
Barbra, I never doubted that you didn't sign the books......no way. Not sure how anyone would ever think that. But, it was very, very nice of you to talk about.
I LOVE your book and you have such a passion and such a vision when it comes to design. Everything is in the details - truly - like when you mentioned you see everything from a movie/camera shot. I have the regular version of the book. I did order the Deluxe on Amazon for $270, but it was cancelled as they didn't have enough copies. When that happened, then I ordered it on Barnes & Noble for the same price, only to have that order cancelled last week, as well. They didn't have enough copies, either. And, I spoke to them several times on the phone. The last time, they even told me that it had been sent out and I would receive it on Monday. Then they cancelled it. So, how could it have been sent out? I am absolutely heartbroken, and feel so empty handed.
I don't suppose you happen to have any extra copies of the Deluxe Version laying around the barn or the napping room, do you? Ha, ha... And, it just doesn't make any sense to buy them on ebay for upwards of $600, when everyone else got them at a fantastic rate of $270 on either site.
Thanks so much for your talent and your passion for everything that you give to your fans.
Re: New Crowdrise Contest - Win A Signed Copy of Barbra's Book.
I bought a signed copy of the Deluxe Edition. I am concerned that the signature might not be Barbra's. It does not look like her other signatures. I paid over $400.00 for what I thought was an authentic autographed book. The book was listed on Barnes & Noble on line several weeks ago. There is one book listed on ebay that shows the signature. If anyone looks at the signature, they can see it is a little different than her previously signed items.
Reply from Barbra:
Rosey: First of all, thank you for buying the book. I hope you enjoy it, as much as I enjoyed writing it. I can assure you that I signed 500 copies of the Deluxe version with my autograph - along with a number from 1 to 500 out of 500. My handwriting may look different from book to book, as I signed them over a few days. Over the years people have tried to sign records and pass them off as mine. If you have a signed copy of the book with a number out of 500, then I can assure you that I personally signed it.
Re: New Crowdrise Contest - Win A Signed Copy of Barbra's Book.
I recently purchased Barbra’s new book and loved seeing the three homes in Malibu she currently owns. The new “barn” style house she recently built is simply beautiful, as are the guest house and the main house she has lived in for years.
The text of the book, which Barbra wrote, is all very interesting. Many personal details of her life that we’ve never heard about before are all through it. And the photography of the homes and furnishings, which she did a lot of, is also beautiful.
I don’t know where I got the idea, but I though this book would also include sections on her New York apartment, her Holmby Hills estate and the Malibu ranch she lived on in the 70’s. I really wish the book did include all that, and now hope she will publish another book on those homes.
The only thing about the book I am really disappointed with is that there is no floor plan included for the new house. Since most of the book is dedicated to Barbra designing and building this house, it is a glaring mistake not to have included the blueprints. And since so many of the rooms are only photographed in very close shots where you can’t see into the adjoining rooms, you have no way of knowing how the actual house is laid out.
I am very surprised that Barbra’s editor or publisher didn’t see that the book should have included the floor plans and blueprints. Simply from an architectural standpoint, it would have brought the design aspect of the book together more. Maybe she will post them on this site in the future, which would be great.
Reply from Barbra:
Good point but the book would have been twice as long if I had included everything I originally wanted. In the end, we had to cut something out. And the publisher felt that the floor plans were too technical and that most people wouldn’t understand them. I hope that answers your question. Barbra.

RE: PURCHASED A Signed Copy of Barbra's Book @ Barnes & Noble - not signed!
False advertising and will not back up with product promised when purchased!
LOVE the book, beautiful pictures but NO AUTOGRAPH as promised! Who do they think they are???? Customer Rating * for Barnes & Noble for false Advertising!
Posted November 18, 2010, 12:43 PM EST: One Star Rating above for B&N not sure if Barbra had anything to do with this? I was so excited to get this book for a gift and then when I received it, I looked through it for the AUTOGRAPH, none to be seen. I was shocked that Barnes & Noble would advertise this and then send out a book with no autograph in it. I emailed them and we will see what happens. Will they stand behind what they advertise and charge for or will they blow me off as a little consumer...... Sad Streisand Fan out here! :o(
Nothig happened with the email - I had to call them and was put on hold for 20 minutes and the lady was nice and kept saying I'm sorry to keep you waiting so long, but we don't have any more signed copies, you can return the book and get your money back and I said you had on your site at the time I ordered it you had them in stock! She then said you can re-order it and see if you get a signed copy and you can return the one you have! I think they are giving me the run around because they have taken the "signed autograph" off the description and even someone else in the reviews says:

Thank you Barbra

Posted October 1, 2010, 1:52 PM EST: I am really looking forward to this book. Being signed by Barbra is the icing on the cake!
I am just really super disapointed all around, I thought Barnes & Noble was one of the best book stores and stood behind their advertising, but I guess not. As far as customer service, the story I got was a super version of shady to me. They screwed up and it reflects on guess who; Barbra Streisand!
Not afraid to sign it.

Debiefae: I just checked with Marty, my manager, and apparently Barnes and Noble made a mistake of posting the description of the Deluxe book, alongside the Regular version, which I can imagine caused some confusion. Barnes and Noble have assured us that they have rectified this error. I really am sorry for their error. I know how disappointed you are. But please believe that I had nothing to do with that. I certainly would never want to mislead you or any of my fans. The truth is always important to me.
