Important Video Message from Barbra -- Women's Heart Disease.

BARBRA STREISAND

I wanted to tell you about an exciting new project that I am leading on behalf of the Women’s Heart Center at the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute.

I hope to raise $10M dollars (of which I will match up to $5M) for research, treatment and education on women’s heart disease. To do this, I have launched a comprehensive internet fundraising campaign using Crowdrise, a new online fundraising community that unites people to raise money for important causes. I have never embarked on a campaign like this before, so this is where I need all of your help…

I am asking you to join me in supporting the work of the Women’s Heart Center by making a donation ($20, $50, $100—whatever you can) to the campaign. Visit my project page on Crowdrise at www.crowdrise.com/barbrastreisand and click the large red button to donate.

I chose to support the Women’s Heart Center at the Cedars-Sinai because of the leadership role they are taking to advance heart care, research and education focused on women. Shockingly, we are 50 years behind on the research since up until recently women have been treated based on tests and diagnostics done mostly on men (and heart attacks present differently in women than they do in men).

Heart disease is the number one killer of women in our country, more than all other cancers combined. And today, more women die of heart disease than men. Because of these staggering statistics, I am committed to taking on this epidemic, and I need all of your help.

If you have a woman in your life that you care about – a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend – please join me in making this campaign successful.

With great appreciation,

Barbra Streisand

Dear Ms. Streisand,

Thank you so much for your support. So many people and women are unaware of how serious this is! Exercise, the right food choices, and watching cholesterol levels can help make a difference in prevention!

I have raised $50,000 for the AHA in the past 4 years by participating in the AHA annual heartwalk. I work at a law Firm in Chicago, and this is one of our flagship charities.

We are also supporting the "Go Red for Women" day this Friday, which is a nationally celebrated event.

Again, thank you for your support, and, for bringing awareness to a disease that everyone should be more aware of.

Sincerely,

Mina Karagas

Dear Ms. Streisand:

It is wonderful work that you are doing for Women and Heart disease. I am so proud to be your fan. Not only do you bring joy and happiness to millions through your music, movies, and concerts. you bring joy to millions though your philanthropic work as well. I was so moved by your commitment to this cause I am going to donate $100 to your cause this week. I am a Pharmacist and am well aware of the difference between the difference in signs and symptoms in Heart Disease between Men and Women. I am so proud of you for bringing this to the attention of the public at large.

I hope my $100. donation will help you in reaching your goal of raising $10million dollars as that is all I can afford to donate. Yet, I remember you saying "one voice can make a difference." I applaud your work and wish you the best as you bring so much to the world in everything you do. I think it is wonderful that you are matching the money people donate.

As a Jewish person, like you, you make all of us so proud to be Jewish and help break stereotypes that have haunted us for generations. I wish you continued success in all you do and am eagerly awaiting the arrival of your new book: "My Passion For Design." I ordered the special edition and will be very excited when it arrives. Also, looking forward to seeing you on Oprah and the Focker's movie.

May G-d continue to bless you and may you keep being the best at all you do. You are a treasure and the world is lucky to have someone as committed to their art and the human condition as your are.

Best always,
Jeffrey Freedman
