Barbra on Whitney Houston's Untimely Passing.

She had everything, beauty, a magnificent voice.  How sad her gifts could not bring her the same happiness they brought us.

Barbra Streisand

Everything remains in time. And time is a cobweb, a mesh of fishing, a universe of links.
I took my canoe and sailed in search of “a why?”
I heard Whitney talk about you ... I read what you thought about her…
I heard something and I picked up maybe everything or just what I understand.
I don’t know who told it. But a story can`t be kept.
That`s why I stopped here. To deliver… to tell. Is for you

*

Once upon a time
- Oh, my little star
And she twinkle, twinkle
Almost secret
-Don´t go, He claimed
And she only smile
A goodbye for Him
On another time
Not so far away
He heard through the blue
-"I look to you, I look to you"
And losing his gentle walk
-Oh, she... she is calling me
So alone, he said
And the Sky, so silent, stopped to see
The Good hold Man walking
Smiling, smiling, smiling
Between so many stars
With Whitney in His arms
Back home finally

"... estrela vai..."

After reading what Kjo had to say on his Face book, I was compelled to go to Barbra's sight and was astounded to see more. It's obvious that Ms. Huston's Spirit has new guides and is already at work.
Now, were it only that simple as to have Barbra and Honored Guests lead the Grandmothers and Children of the World in such a new and powerful music, to save face and with joy, obtain absolute forgiveness, then, by all that remains sacred, I would say waste no time because it has Divinity written all over it. I would give anything to be a bug on the wall when Iilah and Barbra get together for the first time. I will pray that such a real tangible Miracle for one and all alike is made manifest.
Blessings to All, Sahnthia

Barbra thank you so much for your kind words regarding whitney houston's untimely passing, I could not believe it when I heard, I grew up with whitney listening and dancing to her music. After seeing her interview on Oprah back in 2009 she seemed to be going down the right track, she was so beautiful and talented, my prayers go out to her family. she will be missed!!!

Everyone expects so much of an artist. To be stronger, smarter, richer, taller. They're just people with a gift. Her gift was her voice and her beauty, and I'm sure she was a loving mother. Her internal agony can not be felt by any other person on this planet. What she needed to do to numb it was her business; personally I'd rather she healed it. We will never know what went on inside this beautiful woman's mind once she closed her eyes, but we were given beautiful vibrations in her voice to soothe and to heal. She did what she had to do, it was all of her and none of us can ever assume we know why. Only she knew the little Whitney inside her, the part of her that never healed, until, hopefully, now. She left us with a song that inspired millions of people : The Greatest Love of All...she had to be singing that to herself, I know it like I know the sky is blue. All our spirits live on. We only leave behind our body and the impact we've made on one another. Hopefully all our impacts sound and look so beautiful. Missed but never gone. Love.

Apparently she did not feel she was " good enough". It is sad. I'm glad for the gifts she left us with.

she did not have everything, thats the sad part !!! no one has it all, but she had so much, and her life was trashed, and so was that beautiful voice. thank god the cream floats to the top, and we have her in good voice on records and movies. she did bring joy to millions, that was a wonderful gift she gave all of us !!!! god rest her soul .

Barbra,
You hit the nail right on the head with what you said in regards to Whitney. I think if she could of seen what her gifts and talents brought to others and gave that same happiness back to herself she would still be with us.

Whitney Houston got her 'big break' in show business purportedly when she was introduced on stage by her mother, a great singer in her own right, Cissy Houston.

'Mother Houston' sang backups for Elvis, among others, and as a member of 'The Sweet Inspirations' also had a great RB record back in the 60s' (ironically entitled 'Sweet Inspiration'):

"When I'm caught in a bad situation, you bring me sweet inspiration."

You can hear her in the back, behind Elvis, on his last No. 1 record, 'Suspicious Minds':

"Caught in a trap. I can't walk out...".

My kid sister was at that show, back in the early 80s, where Mother Cissy introduced her daughter Whitney to the world (I forget the name of the nightclub).

She told me that Cissy Houston went on stage that night with a whisky bottle in her hand.

She was preceded that night by singer Cyndi Lauper, who at the time was the lead singer for a group named 'Blue Angel'.

My sister claimed that Cyndi Lauper stoled the show that night with her performance of a song entitled-"I'm Gonna Be Strong".

What does it all mean?

how true...

Que Whitney tenha o descanso merecido. Nós nunca deixaremos o esquecimento abafar as notas de sua voz.

Whitney was quite the bright light for many millions. Charming, witty, boldly feminine, and powerfully magnetic. I loved her style and way of giving to others in a godly fashion, with humility and grace. Truly gifted was she. Celebrating her life won't be an easy thing especially for those who were close to her. It's ironic actually, because I think she really had the desire for others to celebrate her like many did early on in her life.

For many years, she got stuck in a web of deception that wasn't really her fault. It's a shame she lost that spark for ministering to others with her magical voice and presence due to that, although she still sparkled a lot. Her music and her legacy will live on. God bless her soul, it'll live on and burst forth like a ray of golden light into the heavens and then some.

I believe she was waiting for world peace. It didn't happen soon enough. It got too painful for her. She was a sensitive and passionate woman. That, among other things, took its toll on her. God bless her friends and family with strength and grace through this tough time.

Yes, Whitney Houston "had" a fantastic voice and I was a huge fan, but if I have to hear one more time from one more music expert or "insider" (who barely knew her) hail Whitney as the greatest female voice of the century I'm going to scream. The truth is, as great a talent as she once was, she was NEVER in the same league as Streisand; not even close.
In addition she was the very antitheses of Barbra; reckless and weak.

My heart is still breaking.....

Sometimes, this life really sucks- and this is one of those moments.

When the celebrity tweets and comments started to come in, I was wondering where Barbra's was- and she came through, in her usual tactful and classy way. I'm glad you didn't talk about her addictions. Nothing will bring her back now, let's remember her in her prime. I feel so bad for her daughter, knowing that as she goes through her life, and major rites of passages as a woman, she will now have to do it alone.

I don't know Clive Davis, and am not trying to judge, but imo, I would have cancelled the party. The whole thing just didn't seem right, at least to me.

"Between yesterday and tomorrow, I will remember, that there was someone that was you."

RIP Whitney.

Whitney was a true talent and I will always think of her as so special, but my heart is very heavy with sadness. Your statement sums up exactly my emotions! I'm glad the
Grammys saluted her with praise and kindness. But speaking of the Grammys, I am
very disappointed that your album didn't win, it is truely music that touches our souls!
Miss Streisand...thank you so much! Your NM friend.

Amen. There can only be one voice that has thrilled me, enraptured me, moved me, haunted me, and that voice belongs to Barbra Streisand and only she. In the area of American popular music only Whitney Houston's voice as well has given me goose-bumps. Not only are these two voices sublime, but their respective sound
is a thing of true beauty, more than that of any other gifted female vocalists.

May Whitney rest in peace. I will never forget her and how her wonderful voice touched me so deeply.

I also recall Whitney's comments as she arrived at Barbra's "One Voice" concert. I am so glad that Barbra commented on Whitney's passing. Whitney's voice brought us so much joy.
She will be greatly missed.

This makes me realise what an amazing person Babs is - how strong she must be to stay so grounded for all these years.

I recall Whitney's comment to media as she arrived at Barbra's "One Voice" concert in 1986. She humbly acknowledged how privileged she felt to hear Barbra's first live performance in many years. Then I fast forward to the opening of the Grammy Awards in 1989 when Whitney performed "One Moment In Time" backed by a full orchestra. There are few moments when I feel so completely thankful to behold a singer's gifts that I "go to God", so to say. This was one of those so-lyricized "moments in time." Whitney's instrument was at its zenith and the lyrics, "Give me one moment in time when I'm more than I thought I could be. And in that moment in time, I will be free!" could not have been more apropos, perfectly timed or performed. As her full-throated, deeply chested voice thundered through the Shrine Auditorium and she climbed the mountain reaching high note after high note, the reservoir broke and I showered my face and chest. This was precisely the reaction I had when I first heard Barbra's earliest recordings. To be given such a rare and perfect instrument and to fulfill the purpose for which you were put on this earth using that gift to entertain and uplift others must be both utterly fulfilling ... and, peronsally for the artist, challenging. Nonetheless, we are enriched by Whitney's contributions to culture and her exceptional gifts. For every day that we are privileged to hear and view the great works of such immensely gifted women as Barbra and Whitney is truly a thanksgiving for cultural abundance and inspiration. Thank you for blessing us, Whitney. Thank you, Barbra.

She was a fantastic artist, when I think of Whitney, I see her at your "One Voice" Concert, standing by Quincy Jones singing with you and the audience. Memories like this will live on forever.

I'm so glad you are always staying grounded in countless ways: Giving back with the CSE; Picking excellent literature that nourishes our soul, propelling us forward; Staying physically and spiritually fit, etc. We thank you, Barbra. I can't help thinking of the dream sequence from the film POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE, where bygone Artists are displayed on the wall of the recovery center, including Garland, Holiday, etc... An updated version of that film could now add Jackson and Houston to that wall.
We thank you that you will never be on any such wall. Grateful for your groundedness,
Peter Blair

Είσαστε οι 2 αγαπημένες μου...........

May she find peace.

I was expecting her death. After watching her two-day interview with Oprah about a year ago, I could tell it was just a matter of time. She was not clean then. One cannot be clean of drugs and drink alcohol, because alcohol is a drug. One needs more than Faith, God, and Grace in order to win the battle of addiction. Nothing of what she said during that long interview told me that she had paid any attention in rehab. Unfortunately, she did not do the work.
RIP

Beautifully put.

So nice of Barbra to comment...she doesn't do that on people's deaths often...and such a very true comment. Thanks Barbra for sharing in our grief...
