"Barbra Reveals 'The Time Has Come' As She Presents Award From Male-Dominated Oscar Category To A Woman"
MARCH 8, 2010, 2:52 pm
Barbra made a rare public appearance last night at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, to present the "Best Director" Oscar to Kathryn Bigelow, the first Woman to win an Academy Award in that category.
Bigelow was only the fourth woman nominated for the prize. Her low-budget Iraq war film, The Hurt Locker, was the big winner at the ceremony. It took six academy awards, including those for best picture and best original screenplay.

Barbra ... as always you looked beautiful! My wish for you is that someday some lucky woman will present this award to you! In my humble opinion there should already be one sitting on your mantle! Love, health and happiness to you always. Deb from Toronto

I have not watched the Oscars since they overlooked the amazing directing and acting of Streisands's Masterpiece Yentl. To this day the beauty of the story, music, and overall cinematic superiority to the ilk we see come out of current film making, remains unmatched in my opinion. I am 45 and grew up watching Ms. Streisand's career over the span of the last 35 years and stand in awe of her as an actress and an advocate for women. I only hope she one day will decide to direct again and finally receive the recognition for her rare talent.

The perfect woman to present this long overdue acheivement. This should have occurred back in 1984. Better late than never. Barbra, you are such a beautiful person in every way that counts.

Re: "Barbra Reveals "The Time Has Come" As She Presents Award From Male-Dominated Oscar Category To A Woman".
From the male-dominated Oscar category, director, to the male
-dominated movie category, military. Did you ever consider making movies about female soldiers, specifically the ones that were honored on ABC News tonight, 3-10-10? WWII veterans that flew planes stateside during the war moving supplies. I have a neighbor who tells wonderful stories about these women. He trained men to be B-18 pilots, whose job it would be to carpet bomb the Japanese mainland. While training the men, he had the privilage to know some of these female pilots. My neighbor, Tom, was interviewed the day after 9-11 on one of our local radio stations. He was asked to compare the terror of Pearl Harbor to the terror of 9-11. The man is a wealth of information as, I am sure, these female pilots are.Thought that I would mention it to you. Something to think about.

It was amazing that Barbra presented the award.....herself a pioneer for women in Hollywood who want to do more than stand still and look pretty for the camera and get behind it and be just as beautiful.....and that living history. "The Time Has Come" was so appropriate to say.
