Barbra on recording "I Think It's Going To Rain Today"

To celebrate her new album of previously unheard recordings, RELEASE ME, Barbra sat down to discuss the songs and what went into making each. Here is her interview about the Randy Newman track "I Think It's Going To Rain Today" from the Stoney End sessions.

"I Think It's Going To Rain Today" sounds completely different from the "contemporary" vibe of "Stoney End" (trying to sound seventies here). It's a really beautiful ballad and I wonder at some point instead of going with a rock sound you were trying to go with a solo piano backup around 1970? Because it also reminds me a little of "If I Love Again" from "Funny Lady" which is from 1974. I can't wait to hear this cd because I also really want to hear "Willow Weep For Me" because it's from one of my favorite albums of yours called "Simply Streisand" and I am extremely curious to hear how Ray Ellis arranged it. I think you have mixed feelings about recording rock music in the early to mid seventies, one reason being you had a funny look on your face during the interview when the word "contemporary" was uttered. I definitely will buy "Release Me" in the next year.

Thank you to Columbia Records, but the release of this edition of "Release Me" with a bonus DVD by a US TV channel and only for US fans, while a "standard" version of the album is in sale everywhere else since weeks, included this official site, NO, by my side, I say simply "NO". I am the webmaster of the french message board Whatsupdoc.fr dedicated to Barbra and I can't understand such a commercial strategy for selling a new Barbra's album.

Best regards

Dear Barbra,
I missed your show in Vegas when you came to the MGM. I have to see you this time cause it could be the last. I am trying to survive lung cance and so far so good. Even had part of my lung removed, but that wasn't as bad as the surgery. So anyway I will take my money from saving to see you. You are the one who taught me to sing. I even told a singing teacher of mine that it was you when she asked me who taught me. I told her I don't even read music. If you play it I can sing it. Well all I know is I have to see you this time and I know everyone else will be waiting on by the computer to get tickets. I just hope I am one of the lucky ones. Your loyal fan D. Olich from Henderson, NV.
