It’s the end of an era. It wasn't just her beauty or her stardom. It was her humanitarianism. She put a face on HIV/AIDS. She was funny. She was generous. She made her life count.
Elizabeth Taylor the LORD bless you!
It definately is the end of a great era. I believe what touched me about Elizabeth was the book that she wrote as a young girl about her pet. It was a chipmunk that was such a little pal to her and the book was very well written. I found the book by chance and bought it because I had two chipmunks as a kid also named chip and dale! She wrote about all her adventures with this little friend who would climb up on her and sit on her shoulders and follow her everywhere. At one time they considered making a movie about it but later decided not too. In the end she lost her beautiful little pal and its sad that the little friend was not put on film. I had so much respect for Elizabeth's love of animals. She also received the horse from National Velvet as her own after the film ended. She wrote her book like a diary about her pet and it was such an uplifting little story. I admired that love of animals that she seemed to possess. I love all the animals in my yard like my doves that are wild and the buck with the huge antlers that I call little Prince. He just comes into the yard and sits and allows me to come outside with him.
It is a special gift to have had this beautiful person Elizabeth Taylor in our midst.
We will all miss her. I thank the LORD for her life and for all she gave this world.
Shalom with love Elizabeth!
Elizabeth Taylor's short speech to Barbra at the AFI tribute (which is also on youtube), was excellent- she eloquently put into words what almost every woman whether a star or homemaker felt about Barbra! Check it out, what a wonderful person Elizabeth Taylor was, I wish I had known people like her in my life.

October 1977 New York City ... Opening night of Liza Minelli's musical "The Act." There I am with my autograph book scoring signatures from Ethel Merman, Sammy Davis Jr, Jack Haley, Barbara Walters ... but the crowd swarms and clusters suddenly toward a new arrival: Elizabeth Taylor. No one is a too-hip New Yorker not to be starstruck by this movie star. I uncap my green flair pen and move toward her as well. Then I see it: a woman's white mink coat in front of me has been absorbing the green ink like a sponge. I recap my pen and move away. I believe I am the first member of PETA.
Elizabeth Taylor had a fragility to her, a vulnerability that made audiences want to protect her but she was far from weak and ineffectual. Her luminosity outshone the auroraborealis. She was famous and made her causes famous, too. If Rock Hudson put a human face on AIDS/HIV then she gave it both a heart and a soul. Three cheers to the woman whose actions and words made her brilliant beyond compare.
I have looked up to Elizabeth with all she has done for HIV/AIDS, in helping people not be afraid to touch people with this disease. Her passing is a loss to us all. She will not be forgotten.
We appreciate all you have done Barbra making everyone aware of Heart Disease in Women, this is only ONE of your enormous philanthropic contributions to life. Your soul and voice are filled with such magnificence, without limits; you are truly a Lady to be treasured. We appreciate all you do. May God Bless.......
Dear Miss Streisand,
Nice to know Elizabeth Taylor's wonderful deeds will continue to help people in the years to come. Also, read your design book and you had a lot of great ideas, some good ideas, and also some elements that I think could be better.
Many people never looked past her beauty, grace, and intelligence. Elizabeth taylor was an enormous impact on many people. She was an amazing humanitarian who live in the hearts of everyone everywhere.
Thank you Elizabeth Taylor for all you did and those who follow in your footsteps.
Thank you Barbra for being a friend and a fellow humanitarian. We love you and all that you do.
You know it was very sad to hear of the passing of such a special woman. When you think of Elizabeth you picture so many wonderful things it is hard to have just 1 to choose from. From her movies with Mickey Rooney, to "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof", to the hilarious episode of "The Lucy Show" when Lucy got Elizabeth's diamond stuck on her hand. She was a great humanitarian an her name/voice will be heard for many many years to come. On abcnews.com they asked for 3 words to best describe Elizabeth and the only 3, I could think of came with the help of Barbra...... "ageless and evergreen".
When she died of Congestive Heart Failure, I thought of your endowment with Cedars Sinai and wondered if it would be mentioned. Keep up the good works; it is truly all we ever have in life.
Elizabeth Taylor was one of my favorites humanitarian actress, her as a person who help with aids campaign, her life counts for the worlds generous personality.
Barbra Streisand has beautiful eyes and heart , she is very generosity with her personal foundations too.God Bless you Barbra. The world loves you too.
Thinking about her at 17 playing pool with Montgomery Clift in A Place in the Sun ... The most exquitsite woman ever on film. Thinking of her life as a woman, humanitarian, passionate sometimes vulgar but always, always a STAR!!! Always facinating and even though a Brit ... She was OURS and we are all better for it. God bless you Elizabeth. I imagined you last night having cocktails with Mike and Richard and was very happy for you. No more pain in the "human condition" Have a wonderful time. You earned it!
Very sad day indeed, Elizabeth Taylor will be missed. It's so sad to see people who really have caring hearts and who try to make the world a better place leave us.
She was also a very good actress. I especially enjoyed her in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" and she had the beautiful eyes. I now want to see some Liz Taylor movies!
How lovely. Your words are a testament to your fine character. It has been the saddest day. I loved Elizabeth all my life. God bless her and you for being a good friend to her.
So true. It's a sad day and end of an era. I see your friend Donna at Kabbalah doing great work for kids We all shall continue to do more work for others in Elizabeths memory.
I'm so glad you mentioned her humanitarianism. People tend to forget those aspects of one's life. She, like you Barbra, was unafraid and unashamed to speak out as a citizen who sees injustice in the world.
You put it so beautifully. I lost my uncle to aids in 1984
it was a difficult time, everyone was so scared of aids.
It was hard to teach people that this disease wasn't caught
just by touching or hugging or kissing. This was in San Francisco
and we lost so many. One year later Rock Hudson passed
and even though we were sad about his passing he put a face to it
made it public and of more importance. Then beautiful Elizabeth
with such guts really fought for aids research. I know my uncle's
spirit and all of those who have passed from aids are at peace, we
had Elizabeth with us the whole time. I love you Barbra my uncle
Valentino loved you to. You are the best.
Such a beautiful statement Barbra...I remember she came out for your American Film Institute Salute and was so gracious and lovely....She loved you, that was obvious! Yes, what a glorious woman and BOY! did she make her life count!!! You both do! Love, gerard
Miss Taylor's courage during the early years of the AIDS crisis brought incredible comfort to my late partner who was not only battling the illness but also the social stigma of having AIDS. Yes, she made her life count indeed.

What a heartfelt tribute Ms. Streisand made honoring Elizabeth Taylor. Thank you.
So many people solely focused on Elizabeth's beauty and headline making life that it seems her philanthropic acts and hard work have been overlooked.
