Dear Barbra fans -

Amongst the many wonderful comments you’ve made on Barbra’s Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages, a few have asked if she’s really posting these photos and if the captions are really hers.

The answer is simple, or may I say “Simply Streisand!”.

Barbra sends me many photos from her personal archives… some come from the collection of her A&R man Jay Landers, and some are from my own collection. Read more »

"I wonder how many times you have to be hit on the head before you find out who's hitting you? It's about time that the people of America realized what the Republicans have been doing to them."

American women, the country needs to hear from you! Do you know how powerful your one voice can be? How powerful your one vote can be?

Remember, it only takes a few votes to make all the difference. In the presidential election of 2000, 104 million people voted and only 537 votes in Florida triggered events that changed the world. Would we have become involved in the unnecessary war in Iraq if Al Gore became President? Would America be falling so far behind on tackling climate change?Read more »

During a Congressional hearing this year, Texas Rep. Joe Barton (R) invoked Noah's Ark saying, "I would point out that if you're a believer in the Bible, one would have to say the Great Flood is an example of climate change and that certainly wasn't because mankind had overdeveloped hydrocarbon."

Really? Because 97% of the world's climate scientists beg to differ today.Read more »

Her voice can never be silenced. The beauty of her words and the strength of her wisdom held us to the truth.

When I fell in love with Larry’s Kramer's play, "The Normal Heart," in 1986, I wanted to promote the idea of everyone’s right to love. Gay or straight!

The gay community was suffering. A new disease was rearing its ugly head and no one was listening.

Larry was at the forefront of this battle and God love him, he's still fighting. But there's no need to fight me by misrepresenting my feelings.

As a filmmaker I have always looked for new and exciting ways to do love scenes. It's a matter of taste... whether they're about heterosexuals or homosexuals. Read more »

Imagine if we could quickly reduce the threat of climate change and grow healthier crops at the same time, without the sacrifice the coal and oil industry tells us are inevitable! Turns out we can, and the solution is literally right under our feet.

As we know now, too much carbon dioxide (CO2) in our atmosphere is disastrous for our planet. CO2 traps heat and results in the ice caps melting, more extreme weather, sea levels rising and a variety of consequences that will disrupt life as we know it.Read more »

As we now enter the third week of the unnecessary government shutdown, Americans should remember the words of GOP Representative Martin Stutzman, "We're not going to be disrespected. We have to get something out of this. And I don't know what that even is." This statement reflects a cultural resentment in the land over a changing America. Maybe if the President calls and says he respects the Congressman and the Speaker, the country could move forward.Read more »

Remember Whitewater and the “travel office” non-scandals of the 1990s? The Republicans and certain media outlets wasted the nation’s time and millions of dollars in pursuit of alleged wrongdoing by First Lady Hillary Clinton. It was all sound and fury signifying nothing. Two decades later, the same script is being revisited about the attack on the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya, which the President and Secretary Clinton clearly labeled a “terrorist act”.Read more »

The horrible tragedy in Newtown, CT has brought to the forefront a much needed and long overdue national conversation regarding the lack of gun control and mental health services in our country. It makes no sense that automatic and semi automatic weapons are available for public sale. The U.S. has more guns and more gun violence than any other civilized country in the world. And since 2009, the National Alliance on Mental Illness has reported that states have cut more than $1.6 billion in general funds from their state mental health agency budgets.Read more »

Weird. But weird is the essence of Mr. Cruz, who is now the first major Republican in the 2016 race. Let the fund-raising begin. A number of states that had previously refused to expand their Medicaid programs for the poor are reconsidering that policy. Larry Kramer does not need me to publicize his beautiful play. It stands on its own. For the last time – I will answer his complaints, which rewrite history.

When I saw the play in 1985 I was very moved and immediately contacted Larry to acquire the rights. After going through several drafts with Larry, I hired another writer to develop a screenplay that was faithful to Larry’s play -- but adapting it to make it more cinematic. It was finished in 1995. Ralph Fiennes and Kenneth Branagh were interested in doing the version that I oversaw.Read more »

“The most truthful part of a newspaper is the advertisements”

---Thomas Jefferson

Boy, Barbra must sell a lot of papers.  That tabloid keeps re-telling the same lies.

I asked my wife if I could borrow her Truth Alert to respond to the latest tabloid nonsense, an outrageous story that I oppose her doing "Gypsy." These scandal sheet guys only print stuff that is the exact opposite of the truth. I'm already lined up to buy the first ticket for that film. Her youthful beauty will perfectly complement her singing and performance. But the point here is that tabloids only traffic in bad news, bad news that they have to maliciously make up in Barbra's case.Read more »

I was just made aware of a ridiculous story in one of those weekly rags. This is just to say that the story is untrue in every respect, just unmitigated, sloppy, and malicious invention.  The madness of the constant inaccuracy of these publications is evidenced by the fact that in this recent story the main photo they use of "Jason" is not even Jason!

One of the tabloids is recycling a fabricated story which we truth-alerted as false in 2004.

It's ridiculous to dredge up a 7 year old story about having a polyp removed. It must be a slow news day.

I’ve endured Larry Kramer’s outbursts in the past, not wishing to dignify them with a response. But at a time when we are all pulling together to achieve such giant steps toward gay equality, it is anguishing to me to have my devotion to this cause so distorted. I think my efforts for the gay community and my immersion in securing its constitutional entitlement and other equitable rights is quite evident and a matter of record.Read more »

To clarify the ridiculous assertions relating to Barbra Streisand's participation in the new "We Are The World," the recording of which I attended with her, Barbra hit it on her first take, but then asked Patti Austin, who was producing the vocal session, if she could do a few more to see what else she might come up with. Patti thought the first take was perfect, and she thought the fourth one was more perfect. They stopped at "more perfect."

I discovered in a recent book of rather serious intent, and in which I was otherwise fairly treated, that the author chose to print some of the silliest fabricated tales about me even after acknowledging that they were “perhaps more apocryphal than true.” I was surprised that this author would not even bother to check his facts. I don’t care if someone doesn’t like my work or tells a story that is unflattering…as long as it’s the truth.Read more »

"I had just gone to pick up the first serious piece of antique jewelry I ever bought-- a beautiful Edwardian choker. It was a lot of money for me to spend ($750,) but I was doing 'Funny Girl' on Broadway, so I could afford it. In the shop, we heard that the President was gone. I was so stunned and devastated that I got in a cab to go home. Driving through Central Park, I suddenly passed Elliott Gould.. my husband at the time.. sitting on a bench. How did he get there?
