Love is Simply Beautiful
Love Is The Answer. People. Simply Streisand. Funny Girl. Stoney End. The Way We Were. A Star Is Born. Guilty. The Broadway Album. A Love Like Ours. You've added yet another beautiful album of songs that touch me and I melt when I listen to. Thank you, Ms. Streisand, for coming "back home" and singing standards that resonate with me.

Her Voice sounds...
Her voice sounds Charming, sweet and overwhelming. When Barbra sings even the angels must be quiet and listen.

New Album
It seems with each new release Barbra presents a collection that is just my cup of tea. At this point I can't decide which of the two discs I prefer of the deluxe edition. Then again, why choose? Although all my life I've been kidded about my appreciation of Barbra's work, I will always be a fan.

Everyone Believes That Love Is Indeed The Answer
I first became fully aware of Ms. Streisand while in my mid-teens when I first heard Stony End on the radio for the first time. From that moment on...I have been enthralled by her voice and talent, her vision and her body of work. I went backwards in time to Funny Girl and even I Can Get It For You Wholesale...up to her more modern endeavours at that time such as Streisand Superman and Barbra Joan Streisand. From the moment I heard her...I gathered all the albums that she had recorded up to that point....and, man, there were alot...and all of them fabulous in their own individualism. I listened to them and found that all of them spoke to me...and as music is for us all...they became the soundtrack of my life. Through the soft pop years, broadway years, disco years, self-awareness years (which comes with maturity) and now to the romantic years...Barbra's voice and integrity has been like a soft whisper just right there over my shoulder the whole way. Now that I am one year shy of turning 50 years old...I appreciate Barbra's work even more. Her latest cd, Love Is The Answer, is so romantic and smooth that I am sure that it will provide many hours of pleasurable listening. It conjures up scenes of soft moonlight and warm, romantic kisses. Add with it a dash of candlelight, a vase of magnolias, a lovely wine and a ceiling/sky full of stars...and my amorous partner...and I have a recipe for some wonderful times. What more could I ask for? These are the moments I live for. Once again...Barbra has given us a wonderful and timeless treasure with Love Is The Answer. Thank you Ms. Streisand.
love is the answer
What a disappointment. I looked so forward to this new album but feel very let down.
The arrangements/producer seem to be taking her in one direction and she is going in the other - there seems to be a real discord throughout. The songs are depressingly presented and like dirges. Barbra singing similar songs 40 years ago is one thing but her voice has changed and it is like listening to a different performer.
I am finding myself skipping through some of the tracks which is unheard of for me.
Barbra has access to the best songwriters in the world and I believe that she needs to offer us something new, different and edgy. I think that part of the problem is that she knows that her fans will attend and pay for any of her work and she is keeping us in the past. This is fine for a while but eventually becomes tiresome.
Sorry Barbra but I know that you appreciate honesty and I have to declare my disappointment.
I believe that Barbra Streisand is the most consumate entertainer of her generation and probably across several generations and I will always support her however in this case I think that she has been lazy and played it safe.

Barbra's new CD "Love Is The Answer" is a revelation. Her interpretation of classics like "Make Someone Happy" and "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" benefit greatly from Barbra's mature vocals, and her control and quiet attack of some of these songs bring goosebumps. For me, the standout among standouts is the positively haunting "If You Go Away" (Ne Me Quitte Pas), by Jacques Brel and Rod McKuen. I have heard this song sung many times by other performers on the cabaret circuit, and it has always been a favorite of mine - but in Barbra Striesand's rendition, it becomes definitive: this performance, in my opinion, ranks up there as one of her altime finest efforts. I love this CD and think it will be a major hit!!
