Re: "A Fine Instrument, a Classic Instinct" - New York Times Interview

A great article, full of compelling insight. Barbra Streisand is without a doubt the most incredible performer. Without a lot of "flash' and gimmickry, Barbra cuts straight thru to the heart of a song, and in doing so, she cuts straight thru to the listeners' heart. She is innately talented, yet always vulnerable - and the audience gets that with every song, and every note of every song. I'm betting that each "cut" on the new album is a 'masterclass' on the art of singing...the art of surviving...the art of the impossible.
I have always been a Streisand fan, and the older we both get, the more I appreciate her gift. At each stage of her career, she has been fascinating to watch and to listen to. At 67, Barbra Streisand is still "the greatest star"!
