August 6th, 2009 – Julien’s Auctions to offer property from the Collection of Barbra Streisand, the multi-award-winning international star, in a live and online auction at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. on October 17th and 18th. All proceeds from this auction will benefit the Streisand Foundation, founded more than two decades ago by Barbra Streisand the actress/singer/director/composer/activist/philanthropist to aid humanitarian causes worldwide.

A preview of the collection will travel to England aboard Cunard Line’s opulent Queen Mary 2 during her August 23rd Transatlantic Crossing.  The highlights will then be exhibited at The Museum of Style Icons in Newbridge, County Kildare, Ireland September 1st – 13th. From Ireland, the highlights will travel to Beverly Hills, Calif. Where a full public exhibition will take place at The Beverly Hilton from October 10th – 16th prior to the two day auction on October 17th and 18th.

Among the other offerings is a selection of Americana furnishings, Art Deco fixtures, Oriental rugs, Native American baskets and Barbra’s personal Yamaha Baby Grand Piano.

Ms. Streisand, a celebrated collector and designer, has spent her life decorating her residencies with the unerring eyes of a connoisseur. Her lifelong passion for the arts culminated in a stunning collection, boasting everything from timeless movie memorabilia to fine and decorative arts, rare antiques from the Art & Crafts movement, and a selection of clothing from her life and career. Barbra Streisand is an enthusiastic collector of vintage fashions and jewelry since her youth, and is renowned for her impeccable style and pioneering fashion. Among the other offerings is a selection of Americana furnishings, Art Deco fixtures, Oriental rugs and Native American baskets.

During the Queen Mary 2 voyage Darren Julien and Martin Nolan will be joined by Marty Erlichman, Streisand’s career-long manager to present Cunard guests an exclusive inside look at the auction and share about the prolific career of the famed entertainer as part of the line’s acclaimed guest enrichment program, Cunard Insights.

Exhibitions will be created by WRJ Design Associates who have designed exhibitions for The Estate of Katharine Hepburn, The Estate of Johnny Cash, The Collection of Cher and recently The Collection of Michael Jackson.
