I was shocked to hear about Donna. She was so vital the last time I saw her a few months ago. I loved doing the duet with her. She had an amazing voice and was so talented. .. It's so sad. - Barbra Streisand
Barbra I'm very sorry for the loss of your friend Donna Summer, here we go again 6 months ago we were mourning Whitney, now Donna I keep thinking all these extraordinary gifted singers leaving way to soon. I loved the duet you did with Donna, what a great song, so now I will say Enough Is Enough, we can't loose anymore of these great talents. Thank GOD we still have your music Barbra.
I did enjoyed Barbra's comments on Donna's passing. Actually, I became a Barbra fan when they (Barbra & Donna) recorded the terrific duet No More Tears. I was a kid in love with Donna and when I went to listen the No More Tears disco mix b side, a song named WET I immediately fell in love with that other stunning voice - Barbra Streisand. Donna and Barbra have been my idols since then. I have all their CDs and DVDs. I love you both. Miss U Donna. Love xxx
As a woman of the times, I also loved Donna Summer and she will never be forgotten as she was unique, and made such an impact of the music industry. She was a spiritual person who was a great example to people in the industry of how to live a life full of joy and dignity. Barbra's comment was straight from the heart.
i & i hate to to see her gone because i care a lot about her. there will never be another like donna & i want to remain on like her- glenn johnson, remember listening to you when you were teaming with donna on enough is enough
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH is a terrific duet; I remember it was such a mainstay at NYC discos. Barbra Streisand has the penultimate female voice. Hers is in a category at the pinnacle of a gigantic pyramid of great American singers. Donna Summer too had her own God-given sound, a voice of great beauty and musicianship. And now, sadly, it belongs only to history and is in a pyramid just under Barbra's, that also includes Billie, Ella, Sarah, Aretha, Whitney, and Christina, all voices of true beauty. RIP...
About a year ago, I was at The Abbey in West Hollywood. The DJ was spinning a bunch of contemporary songs, Katie, Perry, Justin Timberlake, Rhianna, etc and people were grooving to them. Then he put on "Enough Is Enough" and the energy level of the place went through the roof! So awesome that amongst Summer's wonderful work is this classic with our Barbra.
From Wikipedia:
The Third Album is a the third studio album by American actor, singer and songwriter Paul Jabara. The album includes the single releases "Disco Wedding" and "Never Lose Your Sense Of Humor".
The Third Album, whose title and cover picture paraphrases the Barbra Streisand album of the same name, was released in 1979 on the Casablanca Records label, and again features guest vocalist Donna Summer.
In 1979 Jabara also composed the Streisand & Summer duet "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)".
ENOUGH WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH of listening to Donna Summer's music and melodious voice.
It was shocking to hear Donna Summer had passed today. She was in addition to being talented, a lovely person. God Bless Donna Summer. R.I.P. She is missed and singing with the angels.
So many of my favorite singers have passed away, and now there is one more. I didn't even know she was ill, and I am in an absolute state of shock. She was and is one of my favorite singers, and I think I probably have just about everything she ever recorded.
When Ella Fitzgerald (my other #1 favorite singer besides you, Barbra) passed away, your friend Quincy Jones made a very pertinent observation: "People like her never really go away because they leave too much behind." How true. Donna will live forever in her recordings and our memories. May she rest in peace -- and Barbra, may you be comforted by your wonderful memories of her. God Bless you both.
Donna is a POP ICON, duet with Barbra is one of the most beautiful songs of the disco music, big miss, I'm also surprised.
Barbra hopefully Gypsy alright, I'm crasy to see you on the big screen in a big musical again.
Sandro.
A shoch. For people about my age (53) she and her music made part of our youth. Everywhere in the world, every single club, radio station, party, event, they all included a hit of Miss Summer. I remember a night at club 54 in NYC, coming from Paris France, hearing prior to the sale the day after at Sam goodies the duet No more tears. People went wilde! No word exist to describe the ambiance there that night. Imagine, Barbra and Donna together...magical. It is so nice this song has been recorded, the loss of Donna Summer is SO sad.
It really drives home the point of how lucky and blessed you have been Barbra to have good health for all these years. So many talented and younger artists taken much too soon.
Yes it's so sad...I was born in 1960...Donna Summer, Queen of Disco . A part of my youth is gone with her when I used to go into Clubs and danced all night long on her songs...She reached her Art of singing and entertaining people very high, kind of "Haute-Couture" High Level. She was the Best in her category. Soulful, talkative with the audience, great Energy...RIP Miss Donna Summer.
Song Birds live forever, don't they? We have been blessed with so many talented singers that have passed over. Our loss is comforted by their songs and our memories. Thank you Donna and thank you Barbra for doing the duet with Donna. No Doubt she was delighted to have had that opportunity and memory.

That *other* Jewish girl singer, Bette Midler, also commented on Donna --
"Donna Summer, one of the greatest voices in pop music stilled at 63. Good night and flights of angels sing you to your rest. Hurry home."
How I wish Barbra and Bette would work together -- I've been dreaming of it for YEARS!!!
