By Barbra Streisand.

Women are now proving they are powerful when they stick together and are unafraid to speak truth to power… unafraid to stand arm in arm with EVERY American and find a way forward together. Many of us were at the history-making march last year when Donald Trump was inaugurated, and we were hoping against hope that some good would come out of this Administration. Unfortunately, day-by-day, Trump has provided us – – both by his actions and … Read more »

Here’s a terrible fact—

There has not been a single woman who has won the Golden Globe for Best Director since I was fortunate enough to win it for Yentl in 1984…that’s 34 years ago!    Not right!

More women should be directing!

In my humble opinion, I was very disappointed that director Dee Rees and her powerful film Mudbound wasn’t even nominated.

I also would have liked to see director Patty Jenkins and her exciting film Wonder Woman be recognized

Thank you Alabama for giving our country a great Hanukkah present by electing Doug Jones.

Now we can have fun watching McConnell blame Bannon; FOX News blaming McConnell; and waiting to see who blames Trump and who he blames, fingers pointing in all directions.  Of course, we will have to watch McConnell push the obscene tax vote before Jones is seated.

Nonetheless, this is a huge statement combined with the Virginia election a few months ago that bodes very well … Read more »

Last night, voters signed a referendum against Donald Trump and his regressive and divisive policies. His unpopularity and the resistance from activists helped fuel Democratic victories across the nation. The victories had both breathe and depth from school boards and city councils to Governor’s mansions.

The most watched election was in Virginia where Democrat Ralph Northam far exceeded late polling to win a resounding victory for Governor. Democrats swept the other statewide offices in the state including … Read more »

It’s not news…many people in our country are suffering. Uncertainty over our economy continues with high unemployment, which in turn has triggered many more home foreclosures. The lack of jobs has left a lot of people understandably angry, fearful and cynical about what they will face in the days ahead.

It’s natural to want to stop the pain, to find a fast solution or look for a quick fix to end the agony of the last twenty … Read more »

The Minneapolis-based retailer Target just gave over $150,000 to buy ads supporting Minnesota state Rep. Tom Emmer, a far-right Republican candidate for governor. This makes Target one of the very first companies to take advantage of the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision allowing unlimited corporate cash in elections.

Target must think customers won’t care. They’re wrong: We do care, and we need to let them know that we want Target — and all corporations — out of our elections. Can … Read more »

This is in response to Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker’s decision to deem California’s Proposition 8, banning gay marriage, unconstitutional.

“With this judge’s decision, we are closer to the day that all people will have access to the same fundamental rights. Hopefully, this remaining civil rights violation will soon be a part of our past and we can look to a future where all people will be treated equally under the law.”

It’s now well over a month since the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded off the Gulf of Mexico and created the largest environmental catastrophe in American history. The question haunting everyone is: how was this allowed to happen? Last week, the Republicans took a big gamble and lost by lining up on the wrong side of history with their battle against health care reform. After the bill passed in Congress, all we heard from Republicans on the 24 hour news channels was, how can Congress pass a bill without even one Republican vote? The answer is…the same way President Clinton passed his Budget Reconciliation Act in 1993. He had to rely solely on Democrats to win passage after … Read more »

I felt like I was in suspended animation as I read the Supreme Court decision which, essentially enables a corporate coup d’état of America’s Democracy.

Our country’s Founding Fathers never intended for monarchs or the business establishment to rule our nation. No, the Founders of our country began the Constitution with the words, “We the People of the United States…”

Barbra Streisand gushed more than once that Monday’s concert at downtown Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena, the closing date of her 13-concert “The Music…The Mem’ries…The Magic! Tour,” was to be her last concert.

A large teleprompter hung above the audience halfway across the floor. Every … Read more »
