To All of Barbra’s fans,

I believe this is the first note I have ever written to you on any web page… ever!

A writer I’m not… a manager I am, so here goes:

Thank you ALL for making Barbra’s latest album ENCORE: Movie Partners Sing Broadway a #1 album on this week’s Billboard Top 200.

Some are saying this is Barbra’s second #1 album of this decade… but I respectfully disagree.

When a project is nothing more than a germ of an idea in search of a blank piece of paper to land on, it’s fraught with possibilities. Only in hindsight can one evaluate whether the results were worth the effort.

When Barbra agreed to embark on her recently concluded “mini-tour” – 9 cities / 10 concerts – her decision was tempered with some ambivalence. That’s actually an understatement. First of all, putting a show together takes a heck of a … Read more »

It’s kindness and empathy that will make America greater, Mr. Trump.

I’ve said this before, but I’m saying this again. Trump is a walking, talking illustration of what psychologists call “the disowned self,” a person who refuses to recognize his own flaws and instead projects them onto others. He accused Hillary Clinton of being a liar and said she was “Putin’s puppet,” when that glove seems to fit him. Before he was president, … Read more »

Whenever the doorbell rang, the legendary Dorothy Parker reportedly said, “What fresh hell is this?” I feel the same way every day under President Trump. His speech to Congress on his 40th day as president was no different.

It was striking to see how this president has spent his first 40 days in office versus those of President Obama. Nancy Pelosi sums it up:

Hello Los Angeles! What a beautiful day…what a great country we already live in!

I’m going to start by quoting H. L. Mencken, the journalist, satirist and social critic, who said in 1920: “On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

I’m not sure the minority who voted for Trump are prepared for what is coming next.

The witch-hunt of Hillary Clinton has been underway for several decades. While Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg apologized for her remarks on Donald Trump last week, politicians and the media who did backflips to criticize her are rewriting history. Strong, opinionated women, like “The Notorious RBG,” are always criticized. She spoke what many people already feel about the utterly unqualified Donald Trump. Her comments deserve a deeper analysis beyond subjective punditry or sanctimonious Tweets.

It wasn’t so long ago that Republicans in Congress cared about how a president comported himself in office. They cared a lot! The president is, after all, commander in chief of the armed forces, steward of the most powerful nation on earth, role model for America’s children — and he should act at all times with the dignity his station demands. It’s not O.K. to behave in a manner that demeans the office and embarrasses the

When the president says, “I’m, like, a smart person,” you know he nurses deep insecurities about his intelligence. When he says, “I’m really rich,” you know that he knows that you know that, really, he probably isn’t.

And when he writes, as he did in his letter to the now-former F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, that “while I greatly appreciate you informing me, on

President Trump’s firing of James Comey, the 7th director of the F.B.I., was an abuse of power. Republicans — Republican lawmakers and especially the congressional leadership — need to say so. But that is hardly enough.
