Re: "It's Time To Enact Health Care With 51 Senate Votes"

Robert Reich is one of the leading scholars in the world. There is no better time to enact health care reform than today. It is a shame that politics would stand in the way of moving forward in getting our citizens access to affordable health insurance and medical care.
The Republicans passed two huge tax cuts under Bush using reconciliation and now more than ever that process is needed to bring this historic legistlation to fruition.
30 million uninsured people and 50,000 who die each from not having insurance
can't wait. When you have chest pains you call 911. When you have a critical national
emergency it calls for the same urgency.
If the GOP thinks its lies and distortions are going to make health care reform go away, they are sadly mistaken. The ones who vote against will be remembered and mark my words will be voted out of office.
All we have heard from the Republicans and their insurance industry sponsors
are complete fabrications and distortions. They should be ashamed of themselves.
They keep on bringing up tort reform and caps on malpractice suits. Their claim is that this is the major reason for the high cost of medicine. It is not. It accounts for less than
1% of the cost.

45 Million Uninsured Americans

Even if you are against Health Care Reform, at least support getting the 45 million uninsured Americans insured. We are the richest country in the world, and this is just wrong. Also, even if you are against HCR, at least support coverage for all pre-existing conditions. Every American deserves affordable health care, preventive care, and a chance at living a long and healthy life, not just the wealthy and those with jobs with big corporations who pay most of the monthly premium costs for their employees. I'm self-employed, and I have to come up with $700/month for my family of three BCBS premium cost. This seems almost criminal.

Fear of Change

It is the nature of human beings to want to feel comfort. Change is frightening and the Republicans know that. They are using the most hideous scare tactics to make people think that health care reform is a bad thing.
They did it when social security was passed.
They did it when Medicare was passed.
They are doing it again. It is a disgraceful display of partisan obstructionism.
It is one thing to have the facts on your side.
It is another to completely distort them.
Sarah Palin is a speck in the history of America. We can't
take women of little accomplishment and who lack intelligence
and worship their words. "Death Panels" are two words that will
go down as the utterance of the most lowly and ignorant people
in America.
Be patient. Support people who are intelligent and use reason.
Ignore the evil minds who are soaked with greed and self serving
motives.
We shall prevail.
