Diana Krall, a great performer, big talent

I've been to Diana Krall's concerts and I love her way to make songs her own; such big talents together can't make but a great album, with some of the most beautiful ballads into the smoky and jazzy atmosphere that Diana's quartet gifts to Barbra's voice.

I love it!

The Light Above, The Light Within

Barbra Streisand's seeming musical and performing transition is a wonder. What a true artist, renaissance woman, and musician. Her talent manifests itself in all kinds of ways and connects so fully with whatever material she is working on as well as her audiences. We all know the glory of her voice, the breathtaking musician and interpreter of song. And it has been really such a pleasure and thrill to see her really reaching out to her audiences with brilliance, warmth, and grace. She's ever growing by returning to performing roots! It's very generous of her to be sharing these 5 songs from the Vanguard set with us so soon. The fact she is pondering touring sometime down the road, playing clubs rather than arenas already, has me thinking how on earth will tickets be made to the public if at all. It's funny, even just 10 years ago I would have plunged into intense circumstantial depression if I were unable to attend an upcoming performance, but my wisdom has taught me to stay in the present, as best I can, and go with the punches; thus the fact I was unable to win tickets to the Vanguard gig was OK by me. (74 non-VIP fans. C'mon...) I felt I belonged there because the letter I sent to NEWSWEEK in 1969, my penultimate, concise fan letter, and it was published. Plus I'm one of the 2 winners of the "write a review of The Movie Album" contest a few years ago and was published in THE NEW YORKER. Their ad for THE MOVIE ALBUM lifted quotes from my co-winner and myself By I am just one fan, patron of the arts of many, really all equally deserving. But I survived not being chosen to attend the West Village performance with my spirit and wit and emotional life intact. Gee whiz!
