Pairs Figureskating at the Olympics
I just watched a young Canadian couple skate to "The Way We Were" and wondered if Barbra was watching too, and glowing. The program they skated wasn't perfect, but they were so beautifully graceful, I really enjoyed it. (And happy to hear the music they skated to.)
Watching the ice skating, I keep finding myself looking forward to the next Olympics. So many young skaters that are on the verge of being fabulous. I love the ice skating! Love you too, Barbra!

I have always wondered why Barbra's music isn't used more often in figure skating? I mean it always tells a story and would make a beautiful background to any program, with its orchestration and drama.
Just imagine "As if we never said goodbye", "Papa, can you hear me", "Being alive" or "How do you keep the music playing"!
I saw the pair skating to The Way We Were, and, last night, the male singles were on and one guy skated to music from Yentl. Really lovely. The commentator even noted that the selection was from Yentl. (I knew it was familiar lol!)

True, Barbra is associated with so many beautiful songs, and I'm often surprised at some of the crazy music the skaters (or their choreographers) select. I hope Barbra was watching the skating, and was touched by the connection.
Another pair skated to music from Out of Africa, which was a beautiful piece too. One of those that pulls at your heart.
