I'm a fan (and you should be too) because...Barbra has been in my life forever I'm 47. When I had seen Rosie O'Donnell talk about her growing up with Barbra in her life, that's me! Barbra has influenced me along with my mother that we must be involved as citizens of our great country. Losing my mother in March 2011, Barbra's voice always gets me through the tough times. Politics is very important to me, I'm a Liberal and very proud of my belief that we can make a difference.
Growing up and listening to Barbra sing not only pleasured those around us but also gave me strength. I write op ed pieces for a couple of papers, I was born in Southern California and was very active with the Registrar of Voters and was an Inspector and loved the right to vote and to serve on such an important day. To me voting is the equivalent to a child going to Disneyland. I love my Country; funny though the right tends to look down on those who fight for the people, I'm very proud of my political stand and I have to say Barbra was always an inspiration.
My aunt Dee Knuckles was a consultant on the set of The Main Event. Hearing Barbra sing the Main Event not only still sends chills down my spine and allows me to have an excuse to mourn my aunt, she passed away a few years ago. I love all of Barbra's music but I have to say “Memory” is my very favorite.
Just the word, "Streisand" say's it all. A strong woman, courageous, determined and through her foundation helps make our world a better place. I really don't like the word Fan (Fanatic) I'm not I love her as a family member as I'm sure Rosie O'Donnell has expressed. Barbra has given so much to her fans and to her Country that maybe she doesn't "get" why she is so respected and why people are awe struck when they are in her presence, I get it, she’s Barbra! Barbra doesn’t understand why she is idolized. For me it’s based on several things her voice, her acting and her involvement. We admire and respect you for what you give us and to the world. I have such respect and admiration for her. I could write all day about Barbra, I've gone to her concerts, paid hefty fee's to see her performance at the Pond in Anaheim in 1994. I was very lucky I had tickets for the performance in May then she lost her voice, I was crushed don’t get me wrong! Then when she scheduled the performances in July we had tickets to her very last performance which was taped for the HBO special, to see her walk out of that curtain was my "religious" experience, to love someone for what they give to the world was the most exhilarating time of my life. Needless to say I guess I am a fan after all!
Re: What’s Behind the Benghazi Hearings?
It's very clear that the GOP are more concerned on taking down a President who won by five million more votes than his challenger. Hillary Clinton is a formidable candidate for 2016, yet she hasn't stated she's even running, but I hope she does. As a liberal democrat, I view this as an attempt to discredit Hillary, but as Bill Maher stated on his own show, Hillary eats scandals for breakfast, she's tough. As someone who follows politics, I knew these weren't scandals as the GOP are desperately trying to make everyone believe.Read more »
