I'm a fan (and you should be too) because...When i was 14, I saved up every penny from babysitting jobs and allowance to take my 82 year old grandmother to see our favorite performer...Barbra Streisand, during her 2006 concert tour. It took me 5 months to save up $650, and I was THRILLED the day I finally purchased our tickets. It was a dream come true! When the day finally came, I cut school and we headed to the san jose pavillion. As we walked up the steps, I looked over at grammy and her face glowed like I had never seen before. She was like a kid in a candy store. When the concert started chills shot up and down my spine-I had never imagined that i would get to see Barbra Streisand in concert. As the beginning notes to "Have I Stayed Too Long At The Fair" floated through the arena, Grammy grabbed my arm and I saw her eyes fill with tears. She could not believe that we were finally here. Barbra's voice brought tears to her eyes (and mine!) and gave her the "greatest thrill' she had ever experienced. A month later Grammy was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. Three years have passed and, miraculously, Grammy is still fighting. When the days get tough, she and I remember the concert, and her eyes light up. The evening I spent with Barbra Streisand and my grandmother is my most cherished memory. Barbra gave Grammy the opportunity to forget her troubles and simply enjoy the music. It was a night neither of us will ever forget. I am a fan because Barbra gave Grammy and I the experience of a lifetime and memories which have brightened even the darkest of days...THANK YOU BARBRA!! WE LOVE YOU!! : )
Re: We The Corporations? I Don’t Think So.
Amen! As a newly registered voter and high school senior, I am so excited for the opportunity to become part of the election process. Our nation is rapidly changing and the right to vote is something which we simply cannot take for granted...if we want America to grow and prosper, we the people MUST vote and educate ourselves on the issues....
