A new Barbra movie: comedy , drama or musical? What do you like most?
As for me - I like mostly to see Barbra first in a new drama, and than in a musical.
But the best would be a combination of "Musical & Drama !!!

I think right now I'd take Barbra in any movie.
But the dream would be another musical.
I would love to see her in the movie version of Sunset Bolevard the musical. She would rock it.
Me too! That would be the perfect combination of a Drama & Musical.
Just having her onscreen makes me happy. I enjoy everything she does. I would feel badly if she just directed and did not appear on film. To quote someone else...she could sing the phone book and I would be happy.
I think a very good film could be based in her autobiography. That way it could have drama, music, comedy and love. She would write the script, direct the film, sing some songs and even appear in the last part playing her own roll.
I feel that with the time she has grew very much in both artistic and personal levels and this will be a perfect way to show it. I have the sensation that at this time of her life she can face even the bad feelings that she have could (as every other human been) have because most of them had been overcame and the rest are on the way because as she say she is a work in progress.
And I think there is nothing better than to improve oneself in all levels. No wars will be fight if we all would focus our attention on improving ourselves instead of improving others.
My choice would be drama. I love ''The Mirror Has Two Faces'' so much. It teaches people to love themselves and makes people happy. I want her to make a movie like that.
Barbra's been mentioning in interviews that she'd like to direct a movie that she would not appear in. I do hope she plays at least a small role. At the very least a cameo.
Sounds like Little Fockers is most likely the next project with Barbra on the big screen...
All that Barbra does is perfect. I would be happy just to be able to see it in theaters again.
I would be happy with anything. I would like to see her in another comedy. Perhaps that sequal to Meet The Fockers called Little Fockers that they're working on would be good? She was hilarious as Roz.
@Ana M. - I am agree with you for - let's say 60%. But as you wrote:
"She would write the script, direct the film, sing some songs and even appear in the last part playing her own roll." - I think that's to much! There is a danger.
I don't think, that a person can see them self in the completely right light - and in that way, what is also interesting for the audience . Moreover some films of her - Funny Girl, Yentl - have enough aspects and parallels of Streisand own life. In my opinion.
Again a kind of these story would be pretty boring. (Star Is Born shows also the way from the unknown singer to the Star...)
Barbra was good as a director - but I would prefer, if she works now under the hand of a really great director- like for instants- Bertolucci , Woddy Allen and why not your spanish genius Almodovar????
I could image very well:
Streisand and Almodovar with a furious drama !
best Werner ( sorry my poor english)
I would love to see Barbra either directing or presenting a documentary. Something about the environment , like the destruction of the Amazon and the impact that the last biggest forest of the planet will cause to all of us if all that land becomes pasture or sugar cane farms to fuel the ethanol industry around the world...
Unfortunately the so called " green fuel " is destroying the last few resources in Brazil, such as the rain forest and the Amazon. The government here is closing its eyes to the problem, and day by day vast lands of beautiful forests are being burned down to leave space for illegal farming to take place. Also I cannot forget to mention that not only the forests are being destroyed but an amount of plants and animals that are part of that rich biodiversity , which is so important to several different segments of our modern world , such as the pharmacy industry ( many plants there are known to be of extreme importance to a lot of medicines we use in several health treatments) , the food industry , and even the rubber industry, as rubber can also be made from the juice of an amazon tree...and yes without the need of cutting it down! plus the native indian communities that have little or no contact with the outside world. The destruction of the Amazon forest and the Rain forest is a horrible crime that unfortunately is happening for many years in great silence. Its a holocaust of our own planet and only few people and organizations are giving the right attention to this more than important issue.
I would like to invite you all to please read more about it at http://www.greenpeace.org/international/campaigns/climate-change/forests_for_climate/take-action-write-to-lula and if possible to sign the petition. It is of extreme importance to all of us.
Thanks a lot!

Dear Werner
You are right, surely nobody can see himself totally objective way, but who can better? Beside aren't you more objective today than years ago?
I was tempted to buy and read the last biography written of Barbra but I didn't because admiring her, what I want to know is her points of views, the feelings that life was generating in her.
Anyway it was only an idea that has been superated by yours...
BARBRA and ALMODOVAR!
That would be a brave and difficult project but the result would be historical, sure.
I would love to know Barbra opinion about Almodovar and overall about his film VOLVER.
I'd like a big drama movie. I want the big freaking drama movie she never made.
There is a book called For Those I Loved, about the Jewish Ghetto in Czechoslovakia; there is a picture of a young woman in one of the streets, looks like Barbra.
Barbra is the best. Have you ever seen better tears than hers?
Love you, Barbra, your # ONE FAN!
Robert
I have often wondered how Barbra would fair in a good thriller - like a suspence movie -- film noir perhaps.
I think she is amazing in drama - her performance in A Star Is Born is one of her best.
BTW, Werner? Is that you? Goos to see ya! LOL

A good drama would be a great choice (not so sure about another Fockers' sequel).
This drama might include some wonderful songs à la YENTL way..., that's to say, themes that could be heard as a background score for inner thoughts and emotions...
As far as I love Barbra as a director, I don't think she needs to prove anyone anymore that she knows how to direct wonderfully whatever... Instead, I'd love to see her once more in front of a camera, showing her endless charms, but definitely better in a dramatic role.
All in all, calling "the actress who sings"!

you know I think Barbra playing the bad guy would be great.
I'd love a musical of course, but I don't think that will happen. I'd love a drama as well, as I love Streisand in dramatic roles, but like it or not, the next role we see her in will be the "Fockers" sequel. The script is in development and everyone is on board. I'm thrilled to see her acting again and will be first in line to see it.
I'd like to see her do a docu-drama dealing with the issues facing the masses today such as healthcare reform as in John Q.It would not only be entertaining, but also call attention to the issue that can't be ignored and impacts everyone in this country.
I agree with Ana M I think it would be great if Barbra was to do a bio film of her life. That way she and her fans could have the best of both worlds. She could Direct it, appear in a cameo part towards the end, and help write the script. It would be if you like a book end to her career, like the bio film of Fanny Brice "Funny Girl". A film will be made some day, I would prefer it if Barbra was to participate.
If this doesn't come about then I would like to see her Direct a film about something that is close to her heart. Perhaps a bio film about someone famous from the last century, there's so many people to choose from.
A musical from Sondheim ...or maybe Sunset Boulevard ...
but any movie would be great
Barbra should have done something together with Shirley MacLaine years ago ... so I'd say a comedy or a drama ... with those 2 giants and so human ladies (wink!)
I would love to see Barbra in the musical version of Sunset Boulevard playing Norma Desmond, which apparently, the movie version is in the works. I think it would be great to see her play such an iconic character.
well I would love to see Barbra in the Meet the little focker!!!! Plus i have an idea that she could make a movie called Funny Grannyyy
:D:D that might be fun !!!!
Personly I just want to see her make another movie.
I would really rather see her direct a movie rather than star in something. I'm hoping she can finally make The Normal Heart.
Im with you, a dramatic musical.
My favorite movies are the dramas, but I feel that with all the musicals being made in the past several years, I feel america deserves an installment from the greatest musical performer of all time.
But a drama would suit my tastes best
I think Barbra should direct me in a movie.
Drama all the way!!!
I think her comedies were great back in the 70s and everything but her drama's were always the best!!

I'd love to see Barbra in a really good drama (ala The Way We Were, Prince of Tides, Nuts ). Of course she's wonderful and charming in comedy but she's such a good actress. I love watching her tackle a really complex character.
