What Matters Most... To The Fans
Here are a selection of fan reviews for Barbra's new album...
***
Sublime, divine, sexy, heartbreaking, uplifting, moving, stunning, swinging, romantic, superb and one for the ages in a voice that is so defiant of time that it now borders on the supernatural. Every brilliant track exudes a timeless quality that sounds both vintage and brand new at the same time. Oh baby she's done it again. Damn!

This morning I bought Barbra's CD in my local record store and have been listening to it for the last 2 hours and I have been crying for the last 2 hours!
Barbra's voice is amazing, the songs are amazing, the orchestrations are beautiful. Sorry, I need to get more Kleenex!

Since this is an album of lyrics written by the Bergmans, there is a unique way in which the words and their stories are front and center.
It has great variety and, I think, more heart than Love Is The Answer.
If some aspect of her vocal power has diminished, it is more than supplimented by a mature intelligence and knowledge about both life and her art. Plus, whatever she can't do vocally, just highlights all she can do. She's a wonder of nature.
And she can be very sexy on some of these cuts. (It reminded me that she is the woman who, on Inside The Actor's Studio, said "orgasm" was her favorite sound.)
Plus she swings! I love this album.

My copy arrived today (2 days ahead of it's official UK release) thanks to HMV. I sat down and played it through and can honestly say that I have never been more moved by the song selection, arrangements and most of all Barbra's singing. I went from feeling thrilled, having a big smile on my face to eventual tears. This album just has it all. Do I have a fav track, well in all truth I have 10 as every one on this album offers the listener an experience and a new journey. I was especially taken by Barbra's heart felt singing on this new album. Her voice is just amazing and when she goes for the bigger notes you really feel the effort behind them and it just carries you with her. I have always been amazed by her voice but on this album even more so. There is a new truth to her voice and one that I am simply in love with.
The songs are wonderful, her version of Nice'n'Easy is spell binding and the arrangement takes you back in time, in all truth every song takes you somewhere different and this is such a strong collection of songs. Alone In The World is stunning and her singing on this track is absolutely gorgeous.
Do I have anything negative to say...well yes....and that is I wish there were more songs
As a fan I am totally beyond happy and never expected Barbra to surpass LITA (which I adore) but with this album I feel she has. I find the arrangements spot on and her voice is very much upfront and not drowned out at all.
So thank you Barbra for this beautiful new album where for me each and every track is a gem offering the listener a new experience and journey.

Alone In The World is astounding!!! The arrangements are gorgeous and Barbra sounds so damn good that words can not describe the feelings when listening to her sing on this track and indeed the whole album. Barbra is back to her amazing best!!!! Been playing this CD on and off all day and still my heart is being pulled by Barbra's voice and these superb songs. The songs are theatrical, the words are moving and Barbra's vocals are heart felt. I sat late last night just before bed with my hubby (he is not a die hard fan) and we listened to Nice 'N'Easy, Alone In The World and then to send us on our way to bed What Matters Most. He has enjoyed this album and even took time to look at the cover. He knows she can sing like no other but I think the songs and the way Barbra sings them have really got him this time.

I just can't describe the feeling... I've listened to it just once, and I don't mind saying to you all this is my favorite Barbra Streisand album, I really don't mind at all...
Here we don't have just a bunch of songs... here we have excellence in its best... the music... the lyrics!!!... the voice... the feelings... and why am I so sure... cause after Barbra finished her last "all..." in the last song "What Matters Most" I started crying my heart out, and after many many minutes of non-stop crying I can write to you all, this small review... and this is the first time in my life it happens to me... I am moved all the time by music, by maybe one song, but an entire album? this is a first...
I can't say which song I like best, cause I love them all, every song tells a story, and all together tells another one... it was like listening to a movie!!! don't you think? It was like that album that we all talked about "Life cycles of a woman", it was that experience of completeness but from a relationship, not only a romantic one, a friendship too... it evoked me another time, another place, lots of memories and scattered pictures... timeless...
I am thankful for this work, I am thankful for the possibility to be able to listen to it and to appreciate it like I do... like we all do... with all the love that lies inside us...
We are lucky... we are... and we are lucky to express this mutual feeling here all together...

Got the album. I never liked Stephen Bishop's "Something New in My Life", but Barbra has just changed "the feelings I never knew" for this song. The words, her interpretaion--this is the one singular highlight in the album for me.
One of the things that bonded me with my widowed father in the final years of his life was Barbra. We'd both spend late nights at his bedroom, listening quietly to CD after CD after CD of Barbra's. He would have loved this album with all its orchestrations and the sweetness of Barbra's vocal. He would have replayed "That Face" and spoken about his grandchildren, all of them blest with lovely faces. And then, he would have spoken about my mother, who passed on four years before he did, as "Solitary Moon"and "What Matters Most" played on. Then I'd leave him, asking if I need to turn off the light on the hallway outside his room.
I've been remembering both of them as I sat in my den appreciating this album. Barbra, once again, all over again, is holding my hand in this time of my life

I have now listened to the album several times over the weekend, and my first impression wasn't wrong. The album IS sublime, and I now prefer it to LITA which was also a fantastic album. But WMM has more variety in tempo and musical styles, and also better orchestrations than the (orchestrated version) of LITA, IMO.
By the time the album got to the last track - the title song - I cried......something that rarely happens to me with new music these days. I also think the voice has been better recorded, compared to other recent releases such as THE MOVIE ALBUM, where the orchestra at times tended to drown out Barbra's voice. Not here, the voice is front and center all the time, so kudos to the sound engineers as well. It's so great that Barbra's "belt" is back, something also missing on the last album. There are a few scratchy notes here and there, but I didn't really mind those (nothing compared to the "controversial" SGIYI, lol). Overall, Barbra's voice is in fantastic shape that bodes well for the GYPSY soundtrack. I also think she sings with more feeling than on her last album. This was clearly a labor of love and it shows.
Favorite songs? "Windmills", of course, which somehow reminds me of "Autumn Leaves" from JE M'APPELLE BARBRA because of its sparse string arrangement and the purity of Barbra's vocal. Barbra's acapella voice sounds angelic and I get chills from hearing it right at the very beginning of the album. The 2 "swingers" are wonderful, but more mid-tempo than up-tempo. Barbra hasn't sounded this relaxed since she did "Down With Love" during her last tour. That delicious vibrato that hasn't changed much since I first heard it in the late 60's when she used it on similar, "lighter-than-air" numbers such as these 2. Of the 2 bossa novas, I prefer "Solitary Moon" with its more complex and moody melody. Of the slow ballads, my favorite 2 are probably "Alone in the World" and the title song. My least favorite is the John Williams tune "The Same Hello, the Same Goodbye", which isn't bad by any means. His music is just not my cup of tea.

OMG! Just finished my first listen. And yes, this album completely reminded me why I am a HUGE Barbra Streisand fan. To think at 69 she is working at this level is a miracle. We are so blessed to have an artist like her sharing all that beauty. I loved every song and as a whole piece it took me on a journey.
I think this album works even better than LITA because the songs are more cinematic and gives Barbra something to act. Trust me, the windows were steamed over after "nice and easy."!
In a word: Unbelievable! Her best album in decades! Congratulations Barbra!

I just finished listening to the entire album. All I can say is, thankfully, she will never say goodbye. What an artist, what a voice. I love how her voice changes (not weakens) with age. I look forward to hearing new music from Barbra for many years to come.

Dear Barbra,
I love your new album and I agree with the Bergmans: "Do you know how wonderful you are?".
There is so much feeling in these songs, and the lyrics are sublime too. I LOVE this new album. How lucky you are having such a pair of good friends and collaborators.
I would add: "Dear Bergmans, do you know how wonderful you are?".
Barbra and the Bergmans, what a beautiful combination.

Boy was I thrilled after listening to this album. It has the STREISAND MAGIC, the magic that I fell in love with as a little, little boy. These songs are stories and Barbra portrays each and every one in a way that only she can do.
The voice is still the best voice out there. She sings so effortlessly to my ears. I get chills, I feel the emotions. C'est ma Barbra Streisand a moi. Barbra Streisand still sing better than everyone else. There are belts in this album, much more than I even expected.
I'm a huge fan of "A Love Like Ours." It came out in 1999 during my "growing years." I was a tween and feeling certain feelings for the first time in my whole life. I had Barbra's music to guide me through that. I don't compare this album to only ALLO. To me, like the last album LITA, it's more of a return to roots meets late 1990's Streisand. To me that's the perfect mix.
I cannot get enough of Barbra's music. After nearly 3 decades of being a huge fan, I can honestly say that I can't get enough.

I've listened to the new CD a few times now. I have to say I'm "in love" with Alone In The World. Barbra's rendering is just so sublime!!!! The Chris Botti trumpet solos compliment her voice so brilliantly, too. The other track that surprised me is Nice And Easy. I absolutely love, love, love it!!! The big band sound is awesome and I love her ba, ba, ba to the beat!

Just had my first full listen. Wow! The stars really lined up for this one. Spectacular. She is so engaged and passionate and intelligent and full and sensual. She needs it again.
Can't wait to hear the Gypsy score. It's gonna be legendary....as this will be too. This CD has will gather an entire new generation of fans who will work their way backwards (as I did during the A Star is Born era) Very exciting. Talk about a renaissance.

Re: What Matters Most... To Joey B.
Yes i'm only 23 years old but my entire childhood and teen years and adulthood i've been a fan of Barbra Streisand i own every record (both vinyl and cds) ever made and live disc and compilation as well.. and i am always ready for a new Barbra Streisand Album.. when i heard that What Matters Most was coming i was extremely excited.. for knowing Barbra had such a gift with song and words and connecting with the words.. when i purchased this album i played it right away sat down with the lyric book (i'm hard of hearing but hear great)and read the words while she sang it.. i'm captivated by her haunting voice and extreme perfection of every song.. I'm extremely impressed with this album that i thought it would make even my closest friend fall in love with it.. so i introduced this album to my friends and now they are huge fans and will soon get their own copies.. This album has songs that you can relate to, get flashbacks of your own private past that the song reminds you off.. That Face made my face lit it was perfect.. and Alone In the World just made me have chills down my spine.. Before i get extremely carried away.. What Matters Most is yet another incrediable album.. Barbra, never stop making music, I've followed you my entire life.. i absolutly love you, your voice, your talent.. your songs are and always will be special to me i sing along with you everyday and listen to you and your music every day i even watch your films and concert dvds and tv specials.. (which i showed my roomies they fell in love with it they watched A Happening in Central Park 4 times in one night)..

Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
I've played it so much, I'm surprised it hasn't started skipping! BRAVO! Indeed right up there with the Broadway Album in my book! This CD has played during all my rehearsals and studies for my newest role as Mrs. Bradman in Blithe Spirit..gave me the inspiration to be off book before anyone else-ha! Here's a pic for you in full character with my "husband" Dr. Bradman (played by Dan Henry) at the Costa Mesa Playhouse.
Thank you Barbra, I love you so much! You're my inspiration to be the best entertainer I can be!
Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
" Barbra breathes in air, breathes out light. Barbra is my delight. "
As soon as I heard her live rendition of Windmills, I thought Barbra had broken her own glass ceiling, again! Then came the couple of free downloads, and finally the whole album on Aug. 19th. Would that woman stop topping herself, evah?
Since I had been a fan for over 34 years, I probably have exhausted all the praising adjectives one could muster to describe the Art of Barbra. There were movies or albums I had put into perspective with time, I must admit. Therefore, while adoring this new album, I kept telling myself to "hold my horses", and try not to plotz. In a twisted way, I was expecting my enthusiasm to curb over time.
It didn't. It's been 20 delicious days now, and I still stand by my initial reaction: What Matters Most is one of the five absolute best albums of Barbra. It has it all, the musicality, the arrangements, the sequencing, the raw emotion, the intricate layers of suggestion, the sexyness, and above all, the return of clarity within this miraculous voice. Long story short, like a Fabergé marble egg, it's 'whole'.
As for the cover art, well... Here's the only reason why it doesn't top neither The Way We Were, Je M'Appelle (of course, I'm French) nor The Broadway Album in my personal pantheon of BJS albums. The Yentl soundtrack being way up there, unattainable, if you care to wonder.
Because I can never get enough of That Voice, I'm a bit obsessed with the idea that Barbra should record, and record, and then some, for the sake of posterity. This new release brightens my days and illuminates the hope for future releases.

Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
I've gone through the whole album, even thought I don't own it because it's not out here in Portugal yet - I've been looking - but I hope it does, very soon. And all I have to say is that there couldn't be more to love about this album...
My favorite song is "The Same Hello, The Same Goodbye", I've spent my days listening to it, but there isn't one single song I don't like in this album. They all sound so beautiful, and the lyrics so meaningful and the way they're sung, with so much feeling, makes us fall even more in love with them.
And I shouldn't forget saying that your voice, dear Barbra, is great, it sounds so beautiful, and if it's a gift you have and that you use when you want to sing, then it's great that it's been used, because it's too amazing to be wasted.
This was the perfect homenage album to the Bergmans because it really got me to see what amazing and talented people they are, so sweet, Marilyn and Alan.
Congratulations to them and to you, for this beautiful album, you three work perfectly together.
Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
so, for the 64th time, I ran to the record store (still call them that, although I think I used to go to Korvettes to buy them) on the first day and bought "What Matters Most". Definately not disappointed! Still a beautiful voice and can't wait for #65!
Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
This album has Grammy written all over it. I just love every song. Every one. I listen to it in silence and end up in tears. Barbra's voice - graceful, like an angel. Like she's talking to us personally. I have no favorites - I love them all equally. Her take on Nice and Easy was remarkable and fun - That Face - there are no words for how much I love that song, and What Matters Most - I think this is the best album since "The Way We Were". Please tour, and sing every one of these songs.
I was born in 1977. When I was in utero - my mom wore a shirt that said "A Star is Born",and from the minute I arrived, all I listened to was Streisand. To release an album like this, in her career, shows that she is not just an artist - she has changed our lives through music. It is nothing short of extraordinary. I bought four copies for friends and family, and ordering four more.
What matters most is that we loved at all. Barbra - thank you for loving us all with the gift of your voice for all of these years. There will never be another voice like yours ever again. This album is a pinnacle point in your career. I can't stop listening to it. It is like "buttah".
Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
I finished listening to the CD, and it is easy, relaxing listening. My favorites on the CD are, "The Windmills of Your Mind", "What Matters Most", "Nice n' Easy", "That Face", "The Way We Were", "Papa Can You Hear Me" "The Summer Knows", and "A Piece Of Sky".
Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
Thank you, Thank you, and Thank you for this gift. I've been absolutely swept back to the first time I heard you sing.
However do you manage to make me cry and smile at the same time. To hear this new music and old, now, is almost too much for me to bare.
Has there ever been a vocalist like you before. No. Its simple, you are one of a kind.
Damn what a cliche, but I find that mere words just don't describe you and your God-given talent.
Recently I lost a friend that had been part of my life from the 1970's. We had lost touch these last couple of years but now I'm hearing The Way We Were and can't see the screen to type.
Without you my life would have been a sadder and greyer place.
Without you my loves would have been less fullfilling.
Without you what would we have done.
Without you the music would have died.
All my thanks and love go out to you.
Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans

Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
I purchased "What Matters Most" today and all I can keep saying is "Wow Wow Wow!" There is not one song on the entire CD that I do not like and have played it over and over for the last 5 hours. Her voice sounds better than ever, and you can tell in each breath/lyric that she truly is in love with the song and the people that wrote it. I have to admit.....I was not a "Streisand fan" until 1977 and since then have followed her career extensively. It amazes me how her voice keeps getting better and better. When I first heard "Evergreen", I thought she had an excellent voice but now some 30+ years later, I can honestly say her voice is perfection!
Thank you Barbra and a special thank you to the Bergmans....without whom Barbra would not be able to show the world what true music is.
Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
This is really one of her best albums. Since I got it I can't stop listening to it anymore. Everytime I listen to "What matters most" I start crying, it is so moving. Her voice is still extraordinary and no one in this business can ever be compared to her.

Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
Not too long ago she did an interview from her home and that is where I saw that she had chickens! During that interview, we also saw the deep love she has for her dog.
We all know of the special talent she has but she is so special for so many other reasons aside from the music - yet that is what she is 99.999% identified with. She is a person, like you and I - and she is an animal lover, that is what matters to me. Good for you Barbra! (From one chicken lover to another).

Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
Barbra - from your #1 Texas fan, let me say this - I never, ever thought you would ever top "A Love Like Ours". It was clear from the first time I listened to that CD that that was the very best you had ever done, or would ever do - until Tuesday, August 23! With the big band on "Nice and Easy", to Chris Botti on "Alone In The World", and then just completely destroying me with "The Same Hello, The Same Goodbye" - damn! We, your lifelong fans (me - about 35 years now), those of us who love and appreciate your work and the greatest admiration for what you stand for as a great American, have realized this week that again - you have outdone yourself! This release could not be better, and I must tip my hat to Alan and Marilyn for their sublime work for 50+ years. Extraordinary! I hear that you might be considering a tour, and it would be great to see you a third time (Anaheim 1994, next last concert; 2006 Staple Center, last concert). My dream is to finally take my entire family (my two college age sons and my wife) and have them experience 'The Streisand Concert' with their crazy old Barbra fan dad. They've grown up with you via me and are familiar with your work (whether they like it or not...lol), yet they would certainly appreciate the magnitude of the concert experneice with you on stage. Dream come true, and I hope to see it happen (if I can afford it and can make it to wherever you perform). Might I request you come to Dallas for once please? The North Texas area would welcome you with open arms!
Love you Barbra - always have, always will!

Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
Dear Miss Streisand: Thank you SO very much for including "I'll Never Say Goodbye" on this incredible album. This song has been a musical talisman to me since I first heard it on the "Promise" movie soundtrack. It's everything I wanted to say to a man I loved dearly who died three months before our wedding date.
I've collected versions of this chart ever since, but yours is the one I think Bill is finally hearing from heaven. THANK YOU.
With admiration and awe at your wondrous musical gifts -- and everything else you do to entertain, educate, and help others --

Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
Yesterday I wanted to buy new album of other singer, my best-loved Czech singer. But they had not it in the shop yet. Instead, I discovered new Barbra´s album and I bought it immediatelly. My English is too pure (I am from the Czech Republic) for expresion how this album touched me. The songs, lyrics, Barbra´s presentation of the lyrics is amazing. That is music full of love and emotions. Thanks! My dream is to visit some Barbra´s concert and I hope, sometimes, it becomes reality. Sarka
Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
Dearest Barbra,
After making a BEELINE to Barnes and Noble on Tuesday to pick up an additional copy of your AMAZING, new CD - (I had ordered my original copy from QVC in order to get the DVD, but it hasn’t arrived yet and there was NO WAY I was going to miss hearing a “new Barbra CD” on the day it was released), I could not get back to my car and to my CD player fast enough!!!! I have been waiting for the release of this album with such bated breath; I can't even begin to tell you. Needless to say, I’ve been in absolute heaven playing this masterpiece over and over and over for three days straight!!! I just cannot get enough of your GLORIOUS voice singing these magnificent songs!!!! I was extremely honored and thrilled to have been at your MusiCares Tribute back in February, and hearing you sing the two new songs from the album that night absolutely blew me away. Your ingenious rendition of “Windmills” was so moving and so incredibly beautiful I totally fell in love with that song. Of course I had heard it sung by others before, but I had NEVER, EVER heard anyone sing it like YOU! BEYOND AMAZING!!! As for "I'll Never Say Goodbye", there are just no words to describe how much that song got to me. It has stayed in my head and in my heart ever since that AMAZING night, and has been haunting me ever since! I could not wait to hear it on this album and it totally blew me away all over again!!!! After playing those two songs first, and being completely floored, I put on my seatbelt and got ready to blast off, and did I EVER! Each and every track was a new adventure and thrill! I took the LOOOONG way home just to keep listening never wanting to leave my car. Your voice and your style on this album are just mesmerizing. I’ve been in absolute heaven for three entire days! Barbra, you just never cease to amaze me and if it’s even possible, you’ve surpassed and exceeded even MY expectations. I knew this album would be a masterpiece, but WOW!!!! I am just overcome!!! Thank you for yet another work of genius that I will treasure forever!
I wish I could convey to you just how much your music, your movies and your overall being have been a consistent and constant positive force in my life. YOU have been, and always will be “What Matters Most” in so many wonderful ways. Thank you for all you have done, and for enriching my life in more ways than you could ever, ever know. I will always support you in ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you do. You certainly make it “Nice and Easy” to do so with masterpieces such as this one! Thank you Barbra for EVERYTHING!!!!!
***By the way, I’m PRAYING those tour rumors are true…..PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE – I will go ANYWHERE in the WORLD to hear you sing live again!
With all my GRATITUDE, ADMIRATION, RESPECT, AND LOVE,

Thanks for all the years of entertainment.
Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
Beauty,Class never ending style that is Barbara Streisand . Perfection in Her art in every way and growing still. What Matters Most ,a beautiful gift to her Fans and Family.
Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
Barbra, I can't thank you enough for the gift of this album. To me, it is your best vocal work since The Broadway Album. Once again, you have proven your unique ability to convey deep, resonant emotion through every note you sing. While the majority of other singers simply add vocals to tracks, you do so much more...by redefining what a song can mean and transporting us outside of ourselves by making us FEEL the story within the song. There is no other artist alive today that can do what you do. I plan on giving this album to my family and friends - they are "What Matters Most" to me.
Hello, grammy number nine!!

Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
For me, Liz Smith said it best: Barbra IS the greatest star.
Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
I love this album so much! i can't stop listening to it! i would be so thrilled if she did these songs live! imagine how haunting and quiet the audience would get during "Windmills" then how fun it would be while she was singing "that face"! oh it would be spectacular!
and it's so wonderful to know she loved making it, like she said it was a "labor of love"

Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
Thank you Barbra!
I am 100% sure I won´t ever get tired of this album, it has so many things to enjoy and discover - it will never end - like with Yentl for example.
„The very best of Barbra Streisand“ this is what I read between the lines. If I ever met anyone who doesn´t know Barbra Streisand yet, now - „What Matters Most“ would be the music I would play first. There they would learn who she is now but also about the long way she has gone up till today – there is the old and the new Barbra united in perfect harmony of perfect performance and perfect music and perfect lyrics. Moreover this album has a beautiful and wise and in the swinging parts playful soul – the essence of Barbra
Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
"I'll Never Say Goodbye" is just so thrilling ... reminds me of "As If We Never Said Goodbye" from Webber's Sunset Boulevard. Barbra's voice remains unique and exquisite. There are moments on "The Same Hello, The Same Goodbye" that are passionate and beautiful beyond words. When a singer and a song merge perfectly as on this song the sensation of it is magical. Finally all of the songs a wonderful but the most touching is the title track "What Matters Most." It's like Barbra is telling her fans how special it has been to sing for them ... I know it's supposed to be a love song to her man but we Barbra fans are so emotionally vested in her music that we often do take them to heart. Barbra Joan Streisand, you broke my heart. I love you Barbra and I'LL awaya love you. CONGRATULATIONS. Beautifull.
Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
Barbra, you haven't stayed too long at the fair, you're still its main event...what a beautiful album, you sound great! As a proud rank-and-file union worker, these are gloomy times, and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight of the tea party's agenda to cut our wages and pensions. But listening to your album made me feel better than I have in a long time--your magical spirit reminds me that there are still beautiful and priceless pleasures to be had. Your voice may be your gift, but "you" are our gift !!
Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
With 64 albums and almost 50 years in the business, Barbra Streisand can still stir emotions with every note she sings. The first time I heard her sing "People", I fell in love with her. She IS and STILL REMAINS the consumate entertainer. Listening to this latest release, "What Matters Most", I was amazed at how many of the songs I didn't know were written by the extraordinary songwriting team of Alan and Marilyn Bergman. Barbra Streisand and the Bergmans make a great musical team. I would recommend this release to anyone fan or not.

Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
I could write a few nicley crafted paragraphs to kvell about this album, but I'll just say that this is indeed "Simply Streisand!" My favorite track is "All Alone in the World" but her version of "Nice and Easy" sounds like the perfect first dance for a couple at their wedding. It makes me want to get married!
Along with "Love Is the Answer" and "Christmas Memories" one of Barbra's three masterpiecs since "The Broadway Album."
Re: What Matters Most... To The Fans
I just listened to the CD for the first time. It is all and more than I expected. GLORIOUS!!!! There are not enough adjectives to accurately describe 'What Matters Most'. The power of your voice, combined with the sentiment of the music, is overwhelming, Barbra. Most has been said in previous comments. I have to choose 'I'll Never Say Good-Bye' as my personal favorite on disc 1. It is just such a beautiful melody with so much sentiment. However, as has been stated previously somewhere, I like EVERY track, an unusual occurence! Disc 2 is so packed full of classics, it's hard to pick any one as a favorite. However, a less commonly heard number, 'How Do You Keep The Music Playing', stands out to me.
I agree with Number2Moth! I love What Matters Most as much as The Broadway Album! THAT is saying a mouthful.
Thank you so much, Ms Streisand, for continuing to produce excellence for us to enjoy to the maximum!

I'll never say goodbye.... I first heard that song at the end of a movie so long ago. The movie was called The Promise. I never forgot that song - it held special meaning to me and now I hear it again. I had no idea what it was named until I heard Barbra sing it on this album. It is so beautifully sung - thank you Barbra.
