Dear Barbra,

Random thoughts :

I am a stereotype - a 48 gay man, living in Manhattan who has listened, loved and has been moved by your music in a deeper way than most. It's extraordinary to think that someone you have never met could have such an important place in ones life. When u are most sad, when you need be inspired, when you need to relax - your music can touch and move on the most personal level -

We like watching you grow old. In the best sense. Amusing to watch how much you care. How despite all your legendary success, you can still see yourself as the "victim", how you defend your reputation, how in your 60's you continue to fight for how you're portrayed, but in fairness you fight for how others are portrayed, you fight for everybody.

Our favorite photos of you are not the one's where a stylist carefully prepared you for a photo shoot, but the ones where you are caught off guard, hair messy, wrinkles showing.... i particularly enjoyed the paparazzi episode of you in Paris, coming out of the car to let a photographer take your picture. That was my favorite "movie" of you of all time -

It's nice to also see that you are more at ease..... perhaps after all these decades finally able to enjoy the "legend" that you have become?

I wonder if the girl from brooklyn who wore crazy colorful outfits every imagined the woman in malibu, who now wears most black

And after all the art deco and early american, will the homes finally match the simple clothes -

Look forward to watching you evolve -

Dear Barbra,
I am so honored and proud that you took part in the We Are the World Haiti video.
Not only were you absolutely flawless but I can't stop explaining to my 2 boys how much of a philanthropist and giving human being you are.
You see, I am Sharon Owens the girl who 'attempts' to "copy cat" your talent in the very small humble show in Las Vegas at the Riviera called Barbra and Frank.
I am even a bit nervous to write on your website but I was so moved by this. Offering your legendary voice to this video will give millions of dollars to this cause.
You are an amazing and fantastic human being. Not just your talent that is God given and graced our world but because you give back SO much without anyone knowing. So few recognize or even acknowledge your constant giving to so many causes, so many needs of children, woman, the list goes on and on. You are the most giving and caring woman of our century. I am honored, touched and my online words cannot describe how moved I was to see you take part of this video.
Thank you for your gifts. I hope others aknowledge but if they don't, please know, you have many stars in heaven.
Sharon Owens
