Have you ever seen a real, live legend? I have. This Saturday, I went to see Barbra Streisand live in concert. Earlier in the week, she landed in Israel to participate in President Shimon Peres’s birthday celebration. But unlike many of the other famous guests, Streisand spent the week in the Holy Land, toured the country and gave us a once in a lifetime opportunity to see her performing live.Read more »
I was very saddened to hear of Allison Waldman's passing Monday. She had been struggling bravely for many years to beat cancer.
I knew Allison over the years as a very good writer and a kind and loyal fan of mine who created and wrote "The Barbra Files" magazine and "The Barbra Streisand Scrapbook"... she was always wonderful to me. She was dedicated to the accuracy of the news she conveyed, and she shaped her stories with great style.Read more »
I’m so saddened to learn of Phil’s passing.
We first worked together in 1967 when I did a free concert in Central Park. His brilliance at capturing sound was immediately evident.
Later we worked together on the film “A Star Is Born” where Phil was able to record me singing live, including “Evergreen”. In the next decade we worked on the soundtrack to “Yentl” and many other recordings. Read more »

In a new book, End This Depression Now!, Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman says the current economic problems can be fixed both more easily and more quickly than anyone imagines. The history of American democracy, to say the least, has been checkered. Our nation was founded at a time when people of African descent were held in bondage. After slavery was abolished, they were forced to endure legal discrimination for another 100 years.Read more »

Senate Republicans on Monday blocked a move to open debate on the so-called Buffett Rule, ensuring that a measure pressed for months by President Obama and Senate Democrats to ensure that the superrich pay a tax rate of at least 30 percent will not come to a decisive vote.
But the fierce debate preceding the 51-45 vote - the Democrats were nine votes short of the 60 they needed - set off a week of political wrangling over taxes that both parties insist they are already winning.Read more »

When the album went to #1 in the States I was surprised and thrilled. To have the same thing happen on "the other side of the pond" is just as exciting.

I was just told that Love Is The Answer came out at Number One, and I want to share that honor with all of you.. my fans, my friends.. who have made that possible. I want to share it as well with Diana Krall and Tommy LiPuma and everyone who worked on the album... with Jay Landers and especially my manager Marty Erlichman and my team at Columbia Records. You'd think that getting the news that you've been Number One in five consecutive decades would make you feel old, but this makes me feel young. Thank you all.
